Newbie question on bridges

Being a "new newbie", I've read the manual and did a search to see if this has been covered before but to no avail. So I apologize if this has been covered before.

In setting up a basic layout in Surveyor, I am unable to snap the ends of my bridges to the ends of the tracks. In fact, I can't install a bridge between the ends of the two tracks. I have to create it elsewhere and move it in place. But after the move, the splines on the ends of the bridge and ends of the tracks have not "snapped" together.

Hope this makes sense.:D

It does indeed. :D

The secret with bridges is that you place you bridge and then move the tracks to the bridge. This way the track will snap to the bridge. If you move the bridge to the track it will not snap.

It is unfortunate that with the crash of the old forum a lot of useful information has been lost that would be useful to newbies. One such is that when you try to install bridges or tunnels they will only lay across or diagonally across the grid squares. So some times you cant put your bridge or tunnel exactly where you want it.

Tunnels snap to the corners of the grid square at 45 degree intervals (0, 45. 90, etc.) but bridges lay independant of the terrain grid since thay don't need to use digholes to go underground.
AJS tunnels and a few others are made as tunnel shaped bridge splines, and can be placed anywhere and at any angle, although you need to use the separate dighole to erase the terrain where the tunnel goes through.
With both bridges and tunnels, the spline is laid in position first, and then the track is laid to the item. Only single track will attach to them, so if you're using double track, you need a short piece of single track to connect to the bridge or tunnel.
Level crossings and industries also connect with single track.
