Newbie Introduction

Hello Trainz community. I'm in the process of downloading T2010EE and joining this forum and wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

I'm an American expat living in Thailand. I have been a lifelong model railroader along with being a PC simulation gamer. Living here in Thailand model railroading is out of the question and this is what brought me to Trainz. Upon seeing screen shots of the East Kentucky route and being born in the area I was hooked. I spend my youth in both Kentucky and southern Ohio. Needless to say I'm a big fan of the N&W, B&O, C&O, Southern, L&N, Penny, and N.Y.C. as these are the railroads that serviced the area.

I'm surprised not to see a newbie section on the Trainz Forums? I know from the Thailand teachers forum I'm on we have a newbie section where people ask many of the same questions over and over and there are a few of us who help the newbies as not to bother the general forum.

I know by reading the posts I will be having many questions to ask. One question I have is this business of editing config files in order to get some of the things to work with Trainz. What is this exactly and where will these files be found and how are they to be edited? Is there a FAQ on this question?

You're in the General Trainz forum. I suggest you go to the TS2010 forum and at the top find the FAQs, Tips and Tweaks and read them all. Then open the Manual button in the Trainz Launcher window and RTM. Then come back with specific questions as needed and we'll all help.
