New V3: Florida East Coast Miami to Ft. Pierce

Nice looking traffic signals you've got there Brickbuilder. Are those signs going to be able to be user-labeled? Although they are probably only used around Florida and other large metropolitan areas in the south I imagine.

All of you that model any US or Canada railroad will like this:

The distant signal to Ojus siding at Hollywood. I'm working on the Safetran lights.

You want to add an attachment to the illuminated highway designation plate? Just add an attachment point and label it a.name0 and it you may need to mess around with the config as well to get it working.

I'd love to see a illuminated highway/boulevard designation plate hangning on a chain as well, I'll have to grab a pic though

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! The wire hung signs are common in Ft. Laud and West Palm.

I continue to be impressed with your attention to detail.

I have finally stopped adding track to FEC 2020.

It is currently in three sections or regions that can be merged into one monster route.

Section 1 starts at either the CSX or NS yard in Jacksonville and heads to the interchange with the FEC at Beaver Street.

It includes the entire FEC mainline and branchlines south to just below Oakhill.

Section 2 pick up at Oakhill and continues the FEC south to Fort Pierce. This section also includes the entire trackage for NASA and the Air Force.

Section 3 contains by far the greatest amount of track starting at Fort Pierce and splitting to the south along the current main, and to the southwest along the K branch.

The eastern route continues south to the Little River wye and continues south to the port of Miami, or heads west to Hialeah yard, then to the old end of the line south of the Miami International Airport.

The western route follows the K Branch owned by the FEC but being leased by the South Central Florida Express (owned by US Sugar) to the South Bay wye.

The FEC then turns south and follows US 27 on the South Bay branch (which doesn't actually exist) ... yet. It connects to the current FEC on the west end of the Medley lead, which joins up with the eastern route at Hialeah yard.

The west leg of the South Bay wye continues on to the end of the FEC at Lake Harbour, and on to Clewiston and the US Sugar processing plant.

I finally knew it was time to stop only after including all 156 miles of SCFE track connecting thousands of acres of sugar cane to processing mills in Clewiston, Belle Glade, Pahokee, and several miles south of Lake Harbour.

I understand that the FEC is changing, but I have included trackage that I know no longer exists so the user is free to change it to their liking.

Putting these several hundreds of miles of track into place helped me to visualize the vastness of Florida.

Now it is time for the detailing.

This massive route is first being built in 2006, and then upgraded to 2009 to make it available to many fellow Trainz members.

I hope to use many similar assets to those you use on your FEC route and the Key West Extension to limit the collection required by FEC fans.

BTW: I need 2 and 3 lane, one way roads that work well with crossing grades.

Any suggestions?

Richard

Hey Richard,

First of all Glad you're back! How are you and how has everything been going?

As you can see I worked on supporting content.

I took your advice on not using the DEMs and following just a real scale perogative with attention to detail.

Of course, this is South Florida, with EXTENSIVE roadways. Hopefully one day I can actually make the splines, I really do not know how to. YARN was my first step.

My currently static railroad crossing lights are targeted to be calibrated with Mike's (Boat) Advanced Traffic Light System. I do have functioning 12" lights that you find in your BACK YARD! Boat fitted the coronas and helped with the process.

^That one was taken before the corona was fitted the CORRECT way.

Best of luck and looking forward to your FEC2020 progress! :udrool:

To update the bat on this I have no homework for school tonight and plan on testing SOUTHBOUND incoming trains on my route in time and crossing tests on the south end. Will hopefully share the session in two to three hours.

Shots ALL WIP.

Today's query was 109, the soon to be "Nostalgia Train", like 105, 218, and 208. It's biting the dust as of May 1st.

WIP Shots at:

Great looking shots there Brickbuilder! Question: Why is 109 being cut? Economic reasons I imagine?

Thanks;

109 is being abolished or maybe rather temporarily eliminated I think because of what looks to be a slowdown in it's empty rock line. They recently cut the 290 which was featured in my original Version 1 thread and before even cut 208 because both primarily haul rock. Seems 109 lost size recently (If you haven't, see my YouTube Video of Spring Break Railfanning Part III) and the empties will be put on the wee hour southbound IM train; 121. Seems a 117 was revised to serve 107's place and 107 was rescheduled to 4 PM as a hotshot with sister hotshot 101. 107 had to set out at Fort Lauderdale, that'll be 117's job. Therefore, UPS and the railroad are probably happy that the IM will arrive quicker and the trains partially shorter. ;) Long one short, it may be due to the ailing economy but I wouldn't fully say so.

Ah ok, thanks for the thorough explanation there. From your explanation you're probably right, just making things run more efficiently now.

I look forward to more of your screenshots and stories. Oh and are you still working on the fictional Florida Keys route still? Or is it all inclusive now?

Thanks!

Will get to it soon. This and all supporting stuff is my prime focus now.

I just want to encourage your efforts there, Brickbuilder; you are really doing a fine job on the route and on your other projects. I'm surprised you aren't getting more feedback than this!:)

Thanks for the reply Brickbuilder, and I totally second the comment above. But hey at least we're here to appreciate it.

:)

Hollywood, FL. FEC Milepost 348.8, looking at the enormous condo/signal while waiting for 109 and 202. The assembly of six "towerblock06"s is a TEMPORARY substitution for the future mesh.

I don't understand why people are so impressed. I see views just like these screenshots every day as I go to work ........... In South Florida ...... along the Florida East Coast Railway. :hehe:

Am I suppose to be impressed, just because his route is starting to look EXACTLY like the real thing?

You had better believe it! :udrool:

Great Job, my friend! :Y:

Why, thank you Richard! :D

Or is it that I have taken these photos on my way to Pompano in that I took a side stop at Hollywood? :p

More to come, by the way. I'm getting the urge to do one-way 2 - 4 lane roads much more as my route progresses, with massive crossing structures, massive traffic lights, and more!
