New to trainz

Can anyone give me a little help.

I have been modeling railroads for years ( real life, HO and N ) and found this program online. So I have just started using trainz. I started with 2009 World Builder, and now am having trouble figuring out how the system works.

I am mainly interested in creating my own models and layouts and can not figure out, for the life of me, how to get them from GMAX (that I am also new to) to trainz 2009. I have tried using tutorials, though I believe they are all writen for 2006.

The only graphics program I have used is Truespace, that I am very familiar with, and do not wish to invest the $3,500 for 3ds.

Can any one please point me in the right direction? Or tell me how to get files from GMAX or Truespace to my 2009.

First thing you need, if you don't already have it, is the Trainz Asset Creation Studio which you can get from http://www.worldoftrainz.com/Pages/Tutorials.htm
Then read the Trainz Studio Readme.txt file and then try some of the tutorials at worldoftrainz.

I have already gone to his site. Though I do not think I read on far enough.
I found that I had to create a new asset with CMP prior to export.
Not to mention about a 1/2 dozen other items that I have overlooked.

I just need to hit the books for a couple days and hopefully I can learn to enjoy this as much as I do ho scale modeling. I'm retired with a lot of time on my hands. LOL
