new to trainz!

Hey I got trainz 2004 deluxe edition and I installed the deluxe cd! Just wondering is there a way to make choose a loco to drive and a track and time of day etc? Or do I just make up my own surveyor?

Also does any body have any Australian trains or tracks to download? Really like the Melbourne to Adelaide route or any urbane trains!


Also does anybody know any good websites or manuals i could download to understand more on the workings of trains eg the systems etc! also does anybody have the Hitachi http://www.railpage.org.au/pix/electric/3_car_Hitachi_Bunyip_6-1-95.jpg

Please make sure your will is up to date and you have a good supply of coffee/coke/fanta on hand. The world of Trainz is a singularity from which there is no escape... :hehe:

Anyhoo,

You should have a bunch of scenarios that came with the CD as well as a bunch of layouts to play around on. If the scenarios are not to your taste then open one of the layouts in Surveyor, put down your favourite loco and train (there should be a whole bunch of built-in content) and save this as a session. Click the picture of the driver in the top left for a quick drive. To change the time of day open the tab with a picture of the Earth on it and move the clock to what you want.

And if I've completely misunderstood your question I apologize; I've been out of coffee for three days now and the Goblin King's henchmen are out to get me...

hey! i installed the delux cd and i only seem to have 9 scenarios is that right? also ive updated it and its now V2.4 (build 2365) is this the latest? i would of thought there would be more scenarios then that? maybe the delux cd didnt install right? i should off!

Hi Grey2323,

Welcome to Trainz. Yes version 2.4 build 2365 is the latest for TRS2004.

The nine built in scenarios are only a starting point, for you to get used to useing the various aplications in Trainz. The idea is that you run a scenario to find out how to give orders to the drivers or how to drive the loco yourself. There is quite a steep learning curve to be able to work with Trainz to the fullest extent. You can download lots of other content, layouts, scenarios, buildings, rolling stock etc. all for free.

Scenarios and sessions are different. You'll find that there are a number of sessions in the 'driver' menu, under the layout's name. If you go into surveyor, then open up one of the layouts in there, you'll find a number of menus down the side. Go to the one with the wheel, then select the train you want, click on the plus, then click on the track where you want that train to be placed. To change the time in the 'session' (for when you actually go driving), go into the button up the top next to the driver button (In surveyor). This should bring up a window that gives you options to add, modify, or delete session 'rules'. Click on the top one of these, then click on edit. You should now be able to change the sessions time (Note that you won't see any change within surveyor).
Hope this answers your question. Oh yes, there is a Vic Hitachi being made but is not yet released. Same with a new comeng (I've moved onto some other Victorian/Australian projects for the moment), an X'Trap, and a 4D. If you do a search of the download station (Make sure you register your version of TRS in your profile) you will find a large lot of Australian content. Some authors to search for include:

Pretty much nothing is different between 06 and Classics except you have more control over the loco. Trainz Driver I have no clue.
 
I would suggest you buy TRS2006 direct from Auran, the one in that link on ebay is the UK release and requires you to have the disc in the drive at all times (These have been known to shatter in the drive).
If your interested in Australian content, then this, TRS2006, will give access to a lot of the new NSW content. It's your choice really, but I know that I actually enjoy TRS06 a fair bit. It's download/content manager (CMP, AKA Content Manager Plus) does show a lot of content as 'faulty' although this can be ignored for the most part.

TRS06 - has all built in content up to the release of TRS06 most up to date version with this content.

Trainz Driver - literally the only the driver module of TRS06 (No surveyor, no CMP, an no way to make new sessions, basically a payware demo of TRS06)

Trainz Classic - An updated version of TRS06 that does NOT include the 'legacy' content, for the most part. You will need to have TRS2006, then copy the files with the built-in content to TC, to be able to run a majority of pre-TC items.

cool will buy trainz 2006 today! so there are alot of addons/freewhere downloads for 2006? i guess u can use the 2004 addons on it?

You can use pre TRS2006 add-ons, but CMP (Content Manager/Mangler plus :P ) will say that they are 'faulty'. This can normally be ignored.

I wouldn't buy that...

That's the UK version published by JustTrains and you have to have the cd in the drive in order to play the game.

If you're resident in Australia, go to www.auran.com/shop and purchase TRS06 from there. Auran (the developers) get all your cash, not some shady middle man, and you don't need to have the CD in the drive either.

cool ill have a look! got 1 problem atm thou i have downloaded the
X'Trapolis. by "ale" i opened it and unzipped it no worries when i go in the game and surveyor and click on the x trapolis nothing comes up and the train deletes it name of the list :(

any ideas!

Hi Grey,

For this problem you need to download a program called TrainzOptionz It's an excelent program for fixing all sorts of things in Trainz.
To fix this problem, run trainzoptionz, look up the item, right click on the item and select view required rilloing stock parts. Then download the missing parts.
