New to this....HELP!!!

Hey folks. I'm new to the train simulator world. I'm needing some help from the experts here if possible. I've downloaded the Trainz Simulator 2010 Engineer's Edition to my Toshiba laptop. Here's the info on it if it's useful...(Toshiba Satellite C55-B, Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4005U CPU @ 1.70GHz 1.70GHz, Installed RAM: 6.00GB, System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor, Windows 8.1).

The problem I'm having is that when I edit a pre downloaded route in edit session I get so far on it and it seems like after a few days of editing it will automatically check for and update assets on TS and when I go to get back to editing the route is GONE. I'm no computer wiz by far but I'm pretty sure that's not how it's supposed to work. Please help. This has happened twice already and it's VERY frustrating. I enjoy TS on my downtime especially when I'm away from home, but I'm at wits end with this mess. Thanks for any suggestions....

Welcome to the forums.

In order to be able to properly help you, I need you to register your serial number with N3V. To do this, click Planet Auran (above), then Serial Number (left-hand side), then fill in the form.

Thankyou - that now means that you will also be able to download from the Download Station.

In terms of your main issue though, there are two likely problems here. The first one is permission related, which may require you to run Trainz as administrator. To do this, right-click the Trainz shortcut, then click Properties, then Compatibility, then click the bottom tick box to place a tick in it, then click OK.

If you are getting regular database updates on startup, it may be worth allowing a bit more time after closing Trainz before closing down your system. The reason for this is because Trainz has a background process that manages it's database which can take a couple of minutes to close if content has been downloaded or a route has been changed.

Just so that you don't turn the program off too soon... Go in to the mane screen and click Options, then click the developer tab, and tick the box marked Show database processes window, now you should have a process window on the desktop named TADDaemon.
In future Do not shut your computer down until this closes.
