New route in progress

hmm, that's weird. I'm not sure, but i know to make it work, you have to take search filters off. that sometimes gets in the way. I don't think the config thing would work, but you can surely try.

Sorry: I did not intend to hijack this thread, but the use of MP track was mentioned here. I just want to note that I solved the problem by cloning the same track (MP Track Wood) in 09, imported it into 2010 as a CDP and fixing a few errors. It now works flawlessly and looks great in 2010. I am using compatibility mode. I have not tried the route in native mode yet. It should be noted that MP-Track Wood is built into TS2010. However it does not show in surveyor and CM3.3 gives it the obsolete label. I also wanted to mention that the route under development by the OP looks terrific and he is obviously one talented individual.

... and if possible, just try to 'smooth' some of the sharpness from the hills, for a much prettier look ...

I started shaping the hills in the west canyon and gradually worked my way east. I think I got better at it as I went. I deliberately left some sharp edges as I wanted to include rock outcroppings.
How do the fully-landscaped hills look now? Are they smooth enough?
I will certainly go back and smooth the west-end hills some more before I paint them.

BTW, the area around the lake is inspired by a lake near me. Highway 41 skirts the south bank for about a mile, while the north side has beautiful tree-lined cliffs. As the individual trees cannot be made out clearly at that range, I deliberately left them out to avoid giving anything to scale the scene by. The real lake is actually about the same overall size and shape, although I have turned my version 180 degrees. The freight yard is where US41 would be.

This thread does not belong in the General section. Under Screenshots you will find a thread devoted to "Works in Progress".
In the future you should post your WIP updates in that section and leave the General for those who need help with problems or just need to whine.
