New one - track on track, road on road

Oddball duplication of track, I was testing a session and an AI reported unable to find path to next marker. Looking at the track near the marker;

It looked funny, so I added a spline point and dragged that over a bit;

This happened in two places, possibly due to merging in a route module, altho that was several miles away from these. Since the road next to the track was "shimmering" I looked at that too;

Somehow that got duplicated as well.

One thing I noticed when editing the module before merging it - I made the module by making a copy of an older version of the main route which had the section I wanted to merge in, then deleted all the baseboards except the ones I wanted to use. While deleting baseboards I occasionally noticed sections of track and road that remained floating in air after the baseboard was gone, it's possible this glitch is a remnant of that. I assumed that after saving the module route the "orphaned" track sections with no baseboards underneath would be gone, apparently not.

Is the track and/or road in that area attached to scenery objects like mocrossing objects, intersections, interactive industries etc?

I recall on a map I merged way back ages ago (probably in 04) that there was a run of three or four grade crossings (mocrossing objects) in close proximity where the track between each was a single track length with no intervening track vertexes.

Anyway after the merge each crossing was joined by not a single length of track, but by two lengths of track perfectly superimposed which looked like there wasn't a problem, but when investigating the 'no path' thing it turned out that each of the two superimposed tracks was attached to one crossing, but not the other. ie - one track was attached to the northern crossing, but not the southern, the other track was attached to the south crossing, but not attached at the north crossing.

Between two of the crossings the road, which was also a single spline length, was likewise duplicated with each attached at one end only.

A long answer which I am not too sure is perfectly clear, but it may prove that your issue ain't new, but ain't fixed either...

Yeah, I am having the same problems, this is for T12 correct? Try building a bridge and see what happens when you insert a spline point in the middle.

This is something ive seen a lot of in the past. On large routes when boards have been deleted the odd piece of track or road gets left behind in mid air. I used trainz map on some of my problem routes, which should show the baseboard area of the route. My route I looked at went about 10 boards beyond what my present layout was supposed to be. I added extra baseboards to match the number trainz map showed and searche the whole area and found a lot of short road and rail splines left behind. Once I deleted them all plus then the extra boards, trainz map shrunk to the route as it should be.

I gave up trying to work with TS12 until it's finished, I'm doing all this in TS2010. Which apparently ain't finished yet either, still needs more patches.

Dermmy, you called it - both sections were unbroken single ribbons half a mile long, connected to a single track grade crossing object at each end. The road was a boulevard spline connected to boulevard intersection objects at each end. With that common denominator I looked at the fixed object bridges to see if there were any more, didn't find any. Main lesson here is double check deleted baseboards to make sure it left no orphans behind, I guess.
