New love for trains!!

Hello,

I have recently fell in love with trains. I have started growing an HO set with several switches and sidings and really loving the history behind trains. I was looking into Trainz simulator 12. I have tried searching everywhere that I can think of and for some reason I cannot find a list of the loco's included in the base game. It is like it is hidden for some reason.

I am really in love with the SD70-ACE loco's and I really want to have a line with several of them. I really really love the American Flag and Katy versions of that loco and have them in my HO collection. I really do not want to purchase this game to find out I cannot drive them or the versions are not that good.

Can someone help me out and point me to a list or give me some info?

Thank you.

I'll help you out, which way did you come in?

Hard one to do, main problem is some content creators list the correct category, others merely tag locos as "miscellaneous" so they don't show up in the category search. Setting the TS12 content manager filter for built in = true, obsolete = false, category = locomotives, I get this;

Odd part is there are cabviews, bogies, and engine specs for SD70 built in, but no SD70s. Changing the search filter for "sd70" I get a few on the download station;

UP SD70ACe #8309,<kuid2:137823:590002:1>
UP SD70ACe #8485,<kuid2:137823:590001:1>

L SD70 Illinois Central Gulf AirC,<kuid2:86105:5494:1>
L SD70 Conrail Quality NS PRR,<kuid2:86105:5492:1>

None of those work "out of the box" in TS12, they all have missing dependencies and/or errors that would need to be repaired. How hard the repairs would be depends on how skilled you are with basic computer operation, there are tools and guides available and as long as you're comfortable with basic file and folder management they're pretty easy to learn and follow.

FYI, JointedRail has a large number of SD70ACes, including a Katy one, I think. Look through their payware section.

Forgot the link;

http://www.jointedrail.com/

Looking at the ones from the download station, skip the ones with the unknown KUIDs cuz I hate playing that google game, some of these the problem is a missing texture and a couple instances of the alpha transparency texture not being the same size as the base texture. That's a pretty quick fix, so;

Check it in the shop, no oil dripping. ;)

No working speedometer in the cabview, controls don't move either but it does respond to keyboard or Raildriver.

One of the things about Trainz, all images except the built in ones are in standard TGA or BMP format, so it's the easiest trainsim to repaint engines and cars.

You may want to give Trainz 2010 a look. It has 3 SD70's built-in, Conrail, Illinois Central and Norfolk Southern. It also includes much more content than 12 with the added bonus of Compatibility Mode for older content. Welcome to Trainz in any event.

I am Amazed! Why you ask? Nobody has told you to register your copy of Trainz!. Usually when sombody posts who hasn,t registered their copy of Trainz thats usually the first response they get. Perhaps everyone is hung over from Xmas, LOL. To register your copy click on the button at the top of the page, This will show everyone that you have a bona fide copy and not a stolen, pirated or other illegal copy. You will also get more responses although that doesn,t seem to apply in this case. ROFL. Good luck with Trainz (you will need it at times) and may you enjoy many years of frustration!

Oh yeah. Guys. about the SD70ACEs from Jointed Rail. It's really wierd on how 1983, 89, 95, and 1996 are payware, because you can get those 4 off of West Coast Trainz for free. Now I do get why they have 1982 and 1988.
