New Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 users is impressive!

Just downloaded and installed the latest Internet Explorer version 11 - which has been available for Win8 / Win8.1 users for some time - but which is now finally accessible to Windows 7 users.
It is very impressive - on first impressions, it seems to be faster than Google Chrome, which is typically my default and preferred browser.
As an ISP and web designer, I use a large number of different browsers to view my work ahead of publishing to ensure that my HTML 5 code and CSS renders properly across the most popular browsers and mobile devices.
So right now I am testing this browser in Windows 7.

This post is a test to see whether the Trainz forum message box handles carriage returns (i.e. inserts new lines) correctly. You might recall that the Windows 8 version of IE10 did not do this well earlier and needed to be used in compatibility mode for text entry in these posts.

When I hit "Enter", new lines are inserted.

Note: Not sure if it is my wireless keyboard doing this - or IE11 - but entering text here in this post has been fraught with frequent problems involving the omission of characters as I enter text. And the mouse does not select text very well either. Very frustrating!!! Battery levels are all ok on both keyboard and mouse.
Will check using Chrome instead, shortly.
What has your experience been? Keen to hear from those of you who are using IE11 in the Windows 7 OS environment and entering posts on this forum.
Thanks and cheers,
PC

I didn't know a new version was out. I've been a lifelong IE user, never used anything else. I'm going to grab it right now, thanks.

Back again, this time in Chrome browser as per usual.
No problems with keyboard entry or mouse selection this time.
Reckon that might have something to do with the treatment of my Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard within the browser in IE11.
I had the same problem in Chrome too, after installing the Logitech peripherals until I disabled the Logitech SetPoint Extensions in the Chrome settings dialog boxes.
I'll see if I can do the same in Internet Explorer 11.
I remain very impressed with IE's apparent speed and utility in Windows 7 when carrying out normal browsing/ web surfing, however.
Cheers! PC

I use it all the time within Windows 8.1. Make sure you go into tools and compatibility view settings and add in auran.com otherwise you can't hit enter in the forums.

Yep, they were competitors of mine at one stage, but they are no longer a major player DownUnder.
I helped to set up one of the very first ISP (Internet access provider services) in Sydney, Australia back in the early 90's.
Now, back in my native NZ, I do similar things but my focus is more on hosting and web design/ applications development services - and Trainz!

Thanks, John...
Now testing data entry in this forum again using IE11 in compatibility mode.
It WAS allowing me to use the Enter key to add new lines before, but the problem I experienced this morning was serious dropout of characters and poor mouse control during editing.
Compatibility mode has rectified that, I'm happy to report. That's how I had the earlier version of IE (10) set up to use this forum.
All other browsing tasks are smooth and fast, so I remain impressed with IE11 for Windows 7.
Cheers! PC

Slightly off topic, but I stay clear of wireless mice and keyboards for the simple reason that, if you have a system crash and can't boot into windows, then you can't use the keyboard/mouse at all. No good having a start up repair options screen coming up, and not being able to make a selection, or do anything in the BIOS.
Will get IE11 and give it a go...

I just downloaded Internet Explorer 11 for my Windows 7 Trainz PC and it is impressive. Web pages load in a snap. Pretty happy with it.

Works great, I've been using it for a week or so. I've never used anything but IE and have never had any issues.

Will users of Win 7 get IE-11 via one of Microsuck's automatic updates, or do we need to manually download/install it? If manual, how big a download are we talking about?

At the moment, I believe it's a manual download unless MS have added it to Automatic Updates. As for size, it's impossible to give an exact size as it may download extra information during the installation of IE11.

Depends on what you have as your update settings, in mine it's available as an optional download which I have declined, no IE used here.

Might I ask how long ago you got this surprise Teddytoot? My settings call for updates automatically, but I just checked my IE and it's still version IE 10...
About a week ago. I notice on the About IE tab there is a box ticked for Install new versions automatically. Perhaps IE10 had this as well; I don't think I ever looked at that tab.
