Hello,

I have just purchased the Blue coment add on pack to go with my son's Trainz simulator 12 game. It said that it would download automatically once we started the game. I had a few hiccups with registering but have now sorted this out yet eventhough he has some 1298 updates appearing, I'm not sure which ones are the Blue comet as they don't say Blue comet.

I'd really like some help and guidance here. Not really a train buff but my 7 year old is and with working on this for that past three hours, I'm geting to the end of my tether and about to quit altogether, which would mean temper tantrums all round!

Please please, if anyone could talk me through how to get this thing going, I'd be most grateful

Thanks
Tamara

Tamara, once installed you have to add the serial number for the Blue Comet into the "Options" on the blue startup screen. Just type it into the text box at the top (including the hyphens). The actual loco assets are listed in Railyard as CNJ Blue Comet, same in "Surveyor" which is where you go to place them in your route via the Locos tab on the right. If you click the middle button in that flyout, you should see some CNJ Blue Comet passenger consists. Plave one of those on the track where you want it (make sure you have "Session Layer" selected in the Layers flyout before you do this, click the left button at the top, find the CNJ Blue Comet locos and tenders and place at the front of the train. Click on the Main Menu (top left of the screen), click on "Driver Rules" and then click the "Edit" button. Click on "Add driver", select a driver from the list and assign your CNJ loco to him. Click the ticks twice. Click on "Drive" next to the Menu and save when prompted, select DCC in the opening screen to begin with, select your Driver by clicking on the visible portrait, bottom left and select the driver you just assigned (if there only is that driver, it will already be visible) and you are good to go.

Hope this helps, if you require further advice, keep posting with your questions and some kind soul will respond.

Regards, welcome to the forums and good luck,

Ken

Thank you Ken,
I will take careful note of your instructions once we are able to open the file to install the program which is the main glitch. I have attempted twice and dh once as it says on my account only 4 attempts left.
I have tried many many time to have the serial number be accepted. It just replies with a pop up saying it is invalid.

I have never had so much difficulty installing or getting a program to work in my life! And I never thought would looks so simple an add on would take most of the day to get nowhere. I think there will be no more add ons in order to avoid unnecessary time wasting in future.

We are currently looking at firewalls and other things that may not be letting it through. I may yet e asking for my money back!

Thank you again and I do certainly hope we find out how to have a little success.

Tamara,

If I may, two points regarding the problems you relate:

Thank you Ken,

First, I never try typing in a key with Auran. You should have received a message giving you the key; save that as a file (in the same folder as the asset, preferably), open it in a word processor, and use "cut-and-paste" to copy the key from the email into the appropriate spot.

Second, if you are having problem, you can open a help desk ticket through your N3V profile, and they may be able to help you sort it out. I'm not sure in what part of the world you're located, but an interst in the Blue Comet implies the US, so it may be useful to remember that N3V is an Australian company, and approximately 18 hours ahead of the US. When we in the US are getting readly for Sunday evening light meal, the business week is just getting started at the N3V office. Also, the crew is working on a hotfix to some of the problems associated with SP1 of TS12, so it may take a while longer than usual to get a response to a help desk ticket.

Thank you for your reply, I am in Australia and I am not sure as to why the assumption would be directed that I would be in the U.S as this is for my 7 year old son who has a avid interest in all locomotives of the steam variety. I received an email but it wasn't a link and I did cut and paste the serial number several times into the right spots. I was given instruction to "register" my product hence the Auran site.

We have attempted to download said blue comet onto the children's computer, hoping it was a computer related issue. Unfortunately we have received the same results.

We have a very limited download availability so taking the whole day has really put us all out of sorts. My husband has just downloaded the SP1 thinking it would do the trick, but alas it hasn't.

As to writing messages to the help desk, they have two messages from me already so I am waiting for some hopefully very helpful responses.

Probably a silly question, but when you tried to register the serial on Planet Auran, did you select Blue Comet in the drop-down list box underneath? I know that's a silly question, but I've been caught out by that simple mistake in the past.

Ken

Well, I didn't make any assumptions about what part of the world you were in, indeed, I explicitly stated that I did not know where you were located. Since you were downloading payware based on US content, I did consider that perhaps you were located in the US.

Please be patient with N3V and the community. We're good sorts. Really. Well, at least, most of us.
