New Asset

I have of recent weeks experienced the addition of New Assets after editing my route(s)
Refer to the following image.
Any ideas as to why this is occurring?
This is a sample at the present time there are 17 with consecutive numbers, this being the last one
<kuid:159581:102532> kuid 159581 102532 New Asset
Here is error detail
; <kuid:159581:102497> : Validating <kuid:159581:102497>
! <kuid:159581:102497> : VE48: This asset uses an obsolete trainz-build number. Trainz-build numbers below 3.5 are no longer supported.
- <kuid:159581:102497> : VE50: Unsupported kind 'unknown'.

Also the asset does not have any content.

Also the asset does not have any content.

Presumably it has a config.txt file and a thumbnail?

What does the config.txt file contain?

Is there a trainz-build tag? If so what is its value? Valid values can be found at https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/"Trainz-build"_number
Is there a kind tag? If so what is its value? Valid values can be found at https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/KIND_TrainzBaseSpec#KIND_Hierarchy
Is there a category-class tag? If so what is its value? Valid values can be found at https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Category-class

Also, check for "typos" in the config.txt file.

This is all that there is.

To create something new there are two options...
When from Content Manager > Content you choose the "Clone" option, a new Asset identical to the original is created but with a new Kuid number.

On the other hand, from CM > Developer (for which you have activated the "Enable Advanced Debug Tools" box in Trainz Settings) when choosing "New Asset" only an "empty" Asset is created, basically a Config.txt with a new Kuid number, and a couple more lines ( among them "Kind" ) .
The idea is to edit it at ease, knowing how to do it. In previous versions, TS12 say, Content Creator Plus allowed you to create a new Asset completely out of the box... this changed from T:ane.
You can copy the structure of the Config.txt of an Asset similar to the one you want to create, and edit it to your liking, although it requires a bit of experience on the subject.

The strange thing to me is the VE48 warning...
This would appear in Trainz 19 if the New Asset had a Build less than 3.5 and it is correct.
But if you create the Asset in TS12, T:ane , TS19 or 22 this warning should not exist.
Apparently you have created something empty, but for an older version, TS2009 (3.1) or even earlier.

That is what you will get when you create a new asset in CM - an "empty" asset. It is up to you to supply the missing parts (e.g. a Thumbnail image) and fill in all the missing details.

Here are some examples:-

A HTML Asset - see https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/How_to_Create_a_HTML_Asset
A Driver Character - see https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/How_to_Create_a_Driver_Character
A Message Popup Icon - see https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/How_to_Create_a_Message_Popup_Icon
A Region Asset - see https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/How_to_Create_a_Region_Asset

All of the above are fairly simple assets to create but it is still a learning curve. The more complex assets will require more advanced skills, more time and patience.

I should have made myself clearer, I did not nor have not tried to create an asset at any time other than cloning a built in route in the past.

It's the first time I hear about it.
More data will be needed in this case:
Version in which you have this problem, the Build, Asset creation dates, what activities you usually do, also how you discovered they were there... and if you have experience using Content Manager.

Ditto.

Never experienced that in all my years of using Trainz and certainly not with the latest releases.

These are temporary route and session files that are deleted when the route and or session is closed. If for some reason there's a crash, these files can remain in the edit folder and will appear as open for edit in Content Manager. If you've already saved the route or session and moved on from that crash, you can delete these new assets.

These keep on being generated.

Have you had any crashes while editing routes or sessions?

Do they remain after you save and exit your route or session?

Do you get a lot of database repairs on exit?

From my experience, it's these kinds of things that can cause the temp files to remain.
