Need help with roads.

Hi, all.

I'm now working on the road system as I'm waiting for responses to my trolley signals thread. I have looked through the DLS for a few road things for my urban section of my route.

I'm trying to figure out how to do a road with traffic going one way in both lanes, instead of traffic going in both directions. I'm also trying to figure out how to junction a boulevard into two seperate streets. The screenshot shows it all.

For traffic, note the road with T intersections in the bottom of the screenshot. I've tried Andi's tutorial on forcing traffic to be 1 way, but it isn't working. Traffic still goes in both directions across the intersection. You can see the van and car moving in opposite directions in the intersection, despite the invisible AJS traffic street I laid down by the intersection.

You can see I'm trying to make a boulevard split into two streets so that my trolley line can run between them. The split is because my trolley will go underground through a tunnel portal just before the two roads merge into a single boulevard. I have searched on the DLS for a "road - Boulevard" converter. But so far, I've only found ones that convert a boulevard into ONE street, not two as I need in the screenshot.

On a side note, how exactly can I enable traffic on both lanes to go one way? Do I have to use invisible traffic rails or something? If so, what is the KUID so I can download it?

Hi,

it's been a while since I played with traffic but:-

I think you need to use non-traffic enabled roads and junctions. Then you add an invisible road (single lane - one way_ over the top. This lets you add multiple lanes in the same direction (one track per lane).

When you join roads/tracks, the traffic will always turn left at a junction (I was trying to create a realistic roundabout...)

Traffic really isn't going to be very convincing - due to the nature of the simulator - you may need to compromise by having the correct impression - rather than a realisitc simulation.

Cheers,

Colin

Thanks for the tips on the traffic.

Now if only I could get my hands on a boulevard "splitter" to create 2 roads from one boulevard end as shown in my screenshot.
