Ok i am wondering when you pick a locomotive you want to drive in the railyard. how do you pick it to drive and a route? Also how do you get the 2009 track to show up in the 2009 trainz game?
Welcome to Trainz and the forums, BNSF650!
There are two ways of driving trains in TS2009.
The first way is to choose a pre-built (Built-in) route that already has a session. This is done through Driver.
The other way to drive, and this is done if you've downloaded content from the DLS, or have created a route of your own. This is the one you want to use because this is where you'll find your content that you've downloaded. Railyard is pretty useless unless you want to look at your "pretty" trains.
Anyway for what you want, you need to open Surveyor.
Find the place on the route where you want to drive from.
On the right side are some icons. Choose the one that looks like a train wheel.
Scroll through the list and choose your locomotive, and press the + button and click on the track where you want to place it. There is a way to turn it around if it's facing the wrong direction by clicking on the round arrows.
Once you have your loco, click on other rollingstock such as boxcars, gondolas, tank cars, etc. and build your freight train if that's what you're going to drive.
When this is done, choose the quick drive in the upper right hand corner. Ctrl+F2 will get you there as well. You'll be prompted to save the route and session. Do so otherwise you won't have any loco to drive!
You'll be brought into driver, and there will be a choise between DCC driving (TGV loco) or Cab Control. For now choose the DCC control. This is the easiest to drive initially.
Once you click on this, the program will allow you to climb into the cab. There are camera buttons in the upper right hand corner for this, or press the 1 key on your keyboard (not the Numberpad). Use the letter keys on the keyboard to drive. I haven't used DCC mode in ages so I've forget the actual keys to use for this.
There are probably some details that I've left out since I've been away from Trainz for a little bit. (Priorities with school) So I may have forgotten some things. The other members here will be able to help you should you have any more questions.
Fair warning though. The program is addictive and you'll find yourself needing to reset your priorities otherwise you'll be "trainzing" instead of doing homework, household chores, or attending to other family and social matters.
