Need help installing ChicagoTraction Pack1

I am using Trainz 2004. I would like to DL the ChicagoTraction Pack1 by landrvr1.

I have downloaded it but it does not install properly. It installs four "titled" files instead of a KUID numbered file. If you look under the 'dispatcher download' subdirectory, instead of seeing the kuid file label you see a file label like 'Greenliner - 173 or Silverliner - 176'.

Any suggestions on how to get the ChicagoTraction Pack1 up and running.

Thanks for any ideas.

I am 99% sure your trying to install UTC items into 2004 which sorry to report will not work.

I have no problems downloading and installing UTC items into TRS2004. And as for Paul_Bert, I can't say why you have problems installing the content.

Hello Paul Bert, the reason is the Chicago Traction Pack1 is Pre Service Pack 3 Content and is an .exe file not the usual .cdp downloadable file. There was an explanation of how one goes about downloading these types of files somewhere else on the forum, but cannot find anything at this late hour of the night.....as you're a few hours behind me you may have a bit more time to do a proper search, but that is the reason you are having problems anyway......

I found several old posts where people were looking for these interurban trolley's and were debating whether they were available or not. I found another post which mentioned that with some tinkering with the config file you could make them work in 2004.

Again my problem is that all the files in dispatcher download look like "kuid 1942 26039" as an example, while one of the ChicagoTraction Pack1 files looks like "CSS&SB-21" as an example. Trainz 2004 only recognizes kuid files not alpha numeric file names. Any ideas on converting the alpha numeric file names into a recognized kuid file?

Paul...CSS&SB-21 is the name of the train. You should be able to locate the open files and drag them into CMP if you have '06. There may still be some repairs to be done but that's what I've done with old content.

I want to run them in 2004.

Still working on the problem. I now can get the cars to show up in the Railyard and Surveyor. Everything is there except the bogeys'. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the bogeys to show up. I have the bogey files which are labeled CSS&SB bogey and Greenliner Bogey. I just can't figure out how to get the interurbans to recognize these files.

Thanks for any help. Again I am using Trainz 2004.

Getting bogies to work

I got them to show up by changing the railcar config.txt. Changed the referrence for the bogies from the name of the bogies to the kuid. That is
change:
bogey CSS&SB_bogey
to:
bogey <kuid:45651:980003>

Bear in mind, the cars and bogeys were created a long time ago for an earlier edition of Trainz. These bogeys are not animated. Maybe you can find appropriate bogeys on the DLS, for the CNSM cars I suppose a subway/L truck is out there, and an older style two-axle heavyweight passenger truck might work for the South Shore cars. Then you'll just re-edit config.txt.

If anyone does determine suitable bogeys, how about posting here for the next guy.

That's the answer. Thanks

I also found that you had to change the config file for the bogey so that the line 'kind' reads like: kind "bogey" instead of just kind bogey.

I tried several other bogeys but all the ones I tried, even though they were animated, floated above the track. I will try some other ones as time permits.

Thanks again
