Need Help From Windows 7 Expert

In Windows 7, how do I make and save changes to the trainzoptions.txt file in TRS2004?
In Windows XP, it was very easy.
But trying to do it with Windows 7, I find it's impossible and am going around in circles with the same few windows asking me do I want to save, etc. Eventually, I'll see a window that says "access is denied".
As far as I know, I'm the administrater and found it on the computer once, but haven't been able to find it since. I used XP for 9 years. Windows 7 has me buffaloed.

Hi Jim,

Even though you are the administrator, you are not. You account is actually closer to super-user rather than root in the Unix world.

To get around that, run Notepad as administrator. (Right-click on the shortcut in your start menu, it's located under Accessories).

When you save, this should allow you to write the file.

If that fails for some reason save the file to the desktop then move it into the required folder.

Thanks for the replies. By accident I may have removed -framerate=25.
At any rate, the trainzoptions file in 2004 shows a blank area where that was. Is there anything I can remove to improve the frame rate from what I have in there now?

The frame rate never goes over 25 according to Fraps. Shouldn't it be higher seeing as how 2006 shows a frame rate of 60 when I start the Appollo Bay Demo?
It doesn't have -framerate=25 in trainzoptions. I get a frame rate of 60 when I start the Appollo Bay Demo.
This is a new computer. The only difference between the two installs is that 2004 was copied from an external drive I had on my old computer and 2006 is installed from the discs I got from Auran.

I have been bugged by this problem too. I have a simple work around that I do.

First open the config.txt file and do the mods required.
Next edit/select all.
Choose file/new and paste into the empty config file.Dont try to save.
Delete the original config.txt from the folder you are modifying.
Retrieve the the unsaved file you created and save as config.txt.
You can delete this file now.
It will be saved in My Documents.
Copy and paste this config into the original folder.
problem solved.
