Nameplates on Trains???

Hi,

On many Irish trains, they had names on the wheel splashers but I havent a clue how to do this in trainz, Ive tried Paint.Net and it comes up right on one side but backwards on the other side. Is there a way to solve this??? or even a way to re-arrange the Paint.Net format so it can be correct on both sides??? Thanks for your help

Sounds like the only way to do it would be to add an additional mesh to the model. What loco are you reskinning?

Its Claude Hamilton, Ive been given permission to reskin it but the additional mesh might complicate things............An additional question, Anyone know how to increase the trainz build number to a 2.9 as it wont let me upload anything on the DLS if less than 2.9

I can confirm you cannot add a name to the Splasher of a Claud Hamilton simply by reskinning.

Updating the trainz build number involves rewriting the config file to conform to current standards. If you open the asset in CCP it will do this automatically, but you may have quite a lot of error fixing to do.

If the asset uses an image that has left and right body sides then you can duplicate the name on the other side. Copy the name you have for the first side into a new layer. Working in that new layer, invert the layer (I think both vertical and horizontal - you will need to experiment), select the nameplate region and move it into position on the opposite side of the body. Merge the layer down.

If the asset uses a single image for the sides then it is mapping the other side backwards, and it will map your name backwards as well. The only solution for this is to add a mesh to the asset for the nameplate - possible, but it's becoming complex. It would be simpler to choose a different asset.
