gettin bored of trainz
hi.i was woundering could i use my original serial code to my bro's computer.we live in the same house.so could i use my serial code agien:o

Serial numbers are registered on the Internet; it has nothing to do with individual PCs. If you mean install the same copy of TRS, then the answers is yes again. You can't register the same serial number under different usernames, though.

Sorry but that is wrong, the license is for ONE user and most licenses state only on one computer (not sure about this one in Aurans case)
Having said that, if you only use one computer to download content and then transfer it to the other one who is going to know (or care).

Cheers David

In theory, yes, but many of us (like myself) use multiple computers, although, in reality, the program only ever works on one computer at one time (which I believe is the maximun you are allows to use it on - you can install it on several, but under law, use on one PC at any given time). TBH, I don't think Auran care that if it is the same user using different PCs is going to really care, as long as its not being shared with someone else. (Although, I maybe wrong - if so, auran, please correct me).

With more than one machine using the same cd key Auran are paying out for download bandwidth that the customer has NOT paid for on the other machines, therefor the pressure to close the dls has increased unfairly for the rest of us.
I don't care how many machines it is on, its how many are downloading duplicate content that is going to cause grief.

I have noticed that some software has a proviso that allows you to use the same software on your home computer and a laptop as it is an extension of your home computer when you are away from home.

I note that 'pommie' stated that downloading from multiple computers is eating up bandwidth. I do not agree as if I am away from home and using my laptop I can only use one machine at a time.

Why would I need to use up my own download allowance anyway when once it is in my tower, I can use CMP to show todays downloads and transfer them to the laptop without downloading them all again.

If Auran are against my using the game on both laptop and tower I don't object to buying a second copy, in fact I nearly did once to see if the e-portal could be used to send trains between my computers, but no one could tell me if it would work.

I think you misunderstood the last reply. If the original serial owner downloads content then copies it to the second computer, they are still using the same bandwidth. Of course this could be construed as pirating commercial software which is the responsibility of the Auran legal staff.

If its your account, using the same bandwidth through the same user name, in theory, you'd be still limited. Besides, I keep everything in sync across my desktop (which doesn't have Trainz on it at all at the moment) and other laptop, by copying the local folder. Its only developing content outside of my home which is why I keep it installed on all 3 computers, otherwise, I would need to elect a computer to do it all on and I don't think laptops are really up to it for long periods.

To Casyj:

I do not use any bandwidth when copying to the laptop as I select todays files in CMP, then open for edit, copy them from the editing folder to a USB drive (or via my network) and put them in the laptop for CMP to import.

Please read what is there not what you think is there, also if everyone used up the full 100meg per day Auran would soon lower it.

Cheers David

I still don't see your point pommie.

I buy a FCT every 12 months so I pay for my bandwidth.

The 100mb limit is for non FCT users.

They are not paying for the bandwidth.
