Moving Trainz contents to new OS?

chomz147

Just a Mercy Main.
I have had Trainz for Mac for a while now and I have just built a new Windows PC with a fresh install of Trainz 12. Has anyone tried to move Trainz Mac content to Trainz 12 before? I have have found the equivalent of the userdata folder on Mac and would like to know if I can just put the contents of it in to the Windows Trainz userdata folder? Would there be any compatibility problems or any problems with transferring the data? Its over 32gbs of data so I would prefer not to re download all of it on my new PC.

I hope you have a FCT, because I fear re-downloading a lot of the material you found on the DLS is probably the least work (though will take some serious time).
For everything else: Export groups of assets to CDP, move those files to some external disk (or DVD or USB stick or whatever makes transporting files possible) and import those in your new game. Be sure to not make those CDP files too big; it might require some experimenting before you find the "maximum size".

Hope this helps (or that this works as a bump for others to jump this topic that have better ideas).

I haven't had occasion to try this out, so I can't say for certain that it works, but I should think you should be able to take items, or groups of items on your MAC installation, export them to ~.cdp files on flash memory (like thumb drives or SD cards), and then import the ~.cpd files into the Windows machine.

Well I have moved everything from my Mac to PC and installed it. Then ran a database repair, 388,208 assets, 504 warnings, and 0 errors. From what I can see in the content manager everything is accounted for but... a lot of faulty assets, that's not even the best part. Trainz starts up, gets to the first loading screen and crashes.
Looks like I will have to load the backup and reinstall everything if I can't some how fix it.
