Been a member here since 2002 and enjoyed the journey.
Decided it's time to move on - been visiting less and less and although I didn't post a lot, don't find much that I really appreciate, want to appreciate or really understand now. All a bit too technical...........
To me, it was just about being in the cab and enjoying the whole concept.
Thanks to all who have helped make the journey fun and all the best to members who continue to enjoy.

Regards to all,

It was nice visiting with you when yo did drop by. 9 years is a long time in a community like this.

Take care, and I hope we run into each other some time in the future. I'm sure you'll unretire like Ed did awhile ago.

Oh no! Not 7121239! (Why, WHY?...drops to knees as camera zooms out from above)...

...or not. Anyway, happy trails to you, until we meet again!

And yes, there's no shame in coming back, as long as you have no shame..;)

Hi Everybody.
It does seem to be a great shame to see so many well-known members leaving Trainz, the forum or both in recent weeks the most prominent being IKB only a few days ago.

I would not consider myself a prominent member of the forum and neither have I done content creation for the community. I do however consider myself to have been an average user of our Trainz hobby (creating my own routes) and somewhat regular contributor to the forum.

Of course Trainzers coming and going from our hobby and this forum on a regular basis as always happened. However, it would seem to me the numbers of well known content creators and forum contributors saying goodbye have accelerated greatly of late.

I believe the above is due to the business model of NV3/Auran which would seem to be far less customer friendly of late and also the usage and regulation of this forum both of which makes them less attractive to all users both experienced and new to Trainz.

I believe a genuine debate should be had on the above which also involves the the forum and management team in Trainz. Any debate must be centered around making Trainz, this forum and our hobby the most user-friendly it can possibly be. Any such debate must also include the need for NV3 to produce a profit from its software and other activities.

I have a little row of Trainz boxes on a shelf above me, going pretty well all the way back. I didn't post much here - not much of a groupie - but I dloaded a lot of very good assets to use in a series of enormous maps (sorry) I've made for my own amusement.

If I had checked the forum before buying Tr2009, I think I would have been content to stay with TC, building maps and dloading assets as needs be. For me Tr2009 was the beginning of the rot. Auran/whatever put themselves in hock to SqueezeTrees, and to permit the introduction of an almost unplayable mp, asset dload became impossible. The obsoleting (!) of so many assets has not helped; it has probably forced the issue for many - stay with the older asset base, or settle for a restricted palette with no prospect of significant additions.

Patch 4 for Tr2009 has helped reconcile me to that version of Trainz. Subsequently, I have "borrowed" copies of Tr2010 and tr12 and have found nothing in either that would persuade me to buy further into the Trainz franchise. Everything I could reasonably expect from Trainz - given the terminal state of Auran/whatever's finances - I have now. I don't believe Trainz will be significantly improved in the future - it cannot be, the business model will not allow for that.

In effect, it is not so much that I am abandoning/leaving Trainz, as Trainz itself has probably been brought to the summit of possible development.

But no regrets here. What I have is good. There are many other games like this - developed to the extent possible but leaving a satisfying result for fans to continue to play.

Trainz is dead, long live Trainz.

By that logic, you should be the most happy with Trainz 1, not Trainz Classics. :D

We're spending more on Trainz now than at pretty much any point since the very first release. We can afford to do that, because the recent products have been selling well (compared to the earlier versions, anyway- we're not rich yet!)

There's two conclusions that I draw from that:

* That on the whole, our customers like where we're going with Trainz.
* That future versions will be even better, because we're able to reinvest that income back into the project.

kind regards,

chris

@ NikkiA - and there was me thinking IKB was pretty much bullet proof.

@ Chris - I foresee a bunfight : )

Snip....

Yeah, well, how about spending some of these riches on the improvement of the DLS? Or is ONLY the proceeds of the sale of FCTs (if at all) getting spend on it to "improve" the running of it?

Judging by the complaints one reads here in these forums, the complaints about the DLS by far outweigh anything else people complain about here. That alone should give the powers that be some food for thoughts.

Unless they are too busy counting their dollars. Fury is long gone and this is a different kettle of fish now.

What really do you people expect when it all seems to be is a FCT ticket to hell

I told you this would derail Trainz and split the community

some management team , a 3 legded blind dog could have seen this coming
people are droping from Trainz like flies on a dog sh$t going to Railworks

does someone have shares in Railworks?

running a business is 50% listen to your public and 50% deliver to the public

Now some smart ar$e might say well Trainz is better than Railworks ,,,well it might just be ,,but at the rate people are leaving and creatures at that it will not be long until is derailed for good.

I truely believe that everybody should not buy another thing from Auran/N3V
until the hole downloading FCT is working for all who have perchased a ticket
at fast speeds and all faults or bugs are cleared from TS2010 and TS2012

Cut the procrasternating and fix it ,,lets just say a year is to long to be fixing downloads station for any version of Trainz

I believe that all this FCT money was to go to fixing the problems and it's only gotten less productive not more LOOK through the threads people screaming everywhere about it and all people are told is

re type in your password

i wonder if multi-player in TS 2010 TS12 is using up more of the server and causing downloading to be much slower which should be used for FCT downloading

So much negativity is there anybody that like Trainz!

Of course there is! Isn't the reason the servers are busy because sales are doing well?

There are plenty of us that are 'happy', we're just not moaning about it all the time in every thread on every forum.

how do you feel about creatures leaving because they are not ,,so why do you believe they are leaving because they are happy ???? read a few threads

I'm happy, went the railworks route and gave up. Started with 2009 and am happy as a clam. Just getting tired of all the moaning and groaning. Just say goodbye and leave without all the theatrical performances.

Getting real tired of all the whiners.

Enjoy railworks and good bye
