More problems with Tane

No sooner do I get rid of one problem then introduce another. Trains derailing while passing through a station. The only trains that do this is the 4-6-2 Duchess Class and the only station that occurs in is "Station Moreton". why only this type of train and why only this station. I don't understand it very strange. I have seven 4-6-2 Duchess class trains running on the route and a dozen others why only the Duchess class trains affected?
Thanks Keith.

Is it one particular platform?

Check the track. There could be a case where the track is close enough to appear connected yet it's not and close enough so some locomotives, other than the one you're using, will pass over it.
My recommendation is to drive manually out of the cab so you can watch.

In the event that the problem is invisible, which is highly unlikely, pull up the station and replace it again and ensure all track ends are connected properly.

And I will be honest here. I have laid thousands, upon thousands of miles of track in Trainz since December 2003 including T:ANE, and I have never seen anything like you have here outside of the things mentioned above. I will say I have created some odd track connections in the process though.

It is on the station track that is part of the station itself. I think this particular station has a built in train stopping mechanism as the whole train does not derail only the tender and first carriage. I will try to edit this station to see weather it has a stopping mechanism and if it has I will try and disable it. Thanks Keith

That's rather interesting.

Would you mind posting the KUID and name together so I can search for it and take a look myself? This has me wondering too. It might be because it's an old asset which hasn't been updated yet - there's about 6000 or so to go.

The only time I had this happen was a disjointed section of track, which was so close you could not see the separate splines. This sounds like a trivial issue, but hard to find.
Post when you solve it, would like to know what was up.

Kuid 1942:28128 Station Moreton
I have always had problems with this station on a different route trains used to stop dead from 80mph then start off again, I don't know why I keep using it because clearly there is something wrong had a look at the main script for this station but it was double Dutch to me, Thanks Keith

Thanks. I'll take a look myself.

This is quite an old asset and probably has "issues" with it as it was an early interactive asset from about 13 or so years ago now. I remember using this back in 2003 and early 2004 on my own routes. The problem is back then there was very little error checking so a lot of assets ended up being included that were bad or uploaded to the DLS with errors. As the products were improved, this has changed and with error checking the way it is, assets such as we have now this asset would never have made it into the system. At the moment there's a dedicated group of Trainz users that are repairing and updating these older assets so they work as good as new in the current Trainz versions.

I'll take a look at the asset and report it to N3V for consideration and maybe it will be included on the repair list if it's not there already. Like you I'm not much better at that scripting stuff either even though I took programming classes while in college.

I had the issue where track was so close it looked connected but wasn't. Ran a train over and it derailed. Went and looked saw the track was not connected and connected it and was good to go. So be careful when laying track. It could be dangerous.

This used to happen in older versions of Trainz when track would disconnect itself at fixed objects, but it was fixed in TANE (unless one of the many updates broke the code again).

Thanks. I'll take a look myself.

Hi John Well I cured the problem by replacing that station with a different one no more problem but don't know what is wrong with old one. Thanks again Keith.

Hi Keith,

I forwarded this asset over to the N3V CRG (Content Repair Group) to have a look at. They've been running tests and confirm there are problems with the scripts which cause the slowdowns, however, they cannot find the problems with the derailments. My suspicion is, as mentioned above by others here, that the track may have been very close, close enough to appear connected, but not connected. This can cause all kinds of frustration because what looks connected is not. When the derailments occur in this fashion, the solution is to drag the track, or click on height adjustment which is located in the advanced panel, and that will connect the track. Some cases, due to the location of the track end, it's sometimes easier to insert another spline point a bit farther up the track, delete the segment closest to the fixed-track asset (industry, station, level crossing, etc.), and reconnect the track slowly.

Vern - have no fears that problem from older versions, like TS2010 and below, has been banished. Thank God for that as that was extremely frustrating. Do you remember the infinity splines which would pop up when merging? :)

John
