Any fan of model or actual railroading has to go to this place. The EBMES, East Bay Model Engineers' Society, has been around for longer than almost anyone has been alive. They are a tremendous organization. Their current facility is great, but their original site, an old Santa Fe warehouse in Emeryville, CA, with a caboose as the entry way was capable of making a railfan out of anyone. Back in the day my father used to take me there on the third Friday (or was it Thursday? Been a long time) of the month for their public shows.

I'm actually thinking about joining since I'll be moving down there next year since my unit is closer to Oakland than Sacramento.
