Modeling New Cars?

Hey, i've decided to get into modeling new railcars (or, thats where i would like to start).

So, i know theres got to be a place with this information, can anyone point me in that direction?

Also, i'm curious as to what format the models need to be in, and if its possible to create tracks (and therefore trains) larger than standard?

Thanks,

Thats helpful, but i took a glance and what i saw was Blender. I've tinkered with blender before, and its great. Cept, the only program i've ever been able to even use is SketchUp. And that would be great, except, to my knoweldge, it only outputs .skp files...

There is a routine that you can use to convert skp files to blender. Some people have had reasonable success, others none. Most of my attempts weren't red hot but I know nothing about blender.

Here's a link

Personally, i found Gmax better than blender. I found and still find Gmax much more simpler and easier to use than Blender. Maybe i'm just a tad bit crazy...

I note you don't appear to have uploaded any of your creations yet to the DLS. In general I find the more complex the asset the more Blender is simpler.
