Missing items in surveyor menus

I am running TRS 2010EE and I wanted a rail ends bumper. I went to DLS and downloaded one, but it does not show up in the surveyor menus as being there. When I go to the installed tab in CMP there are several items there that do not show up in the surveyor menus either. How do I get the items to show up so I can use them. The bumper file is a small file and I don't know where on my hard drive it should download to. According to the installed tab in CMP there are around 4 US bumper objects installed, but none of them show up in the Tracks menu or the Objects menu. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.....

I am running in native mode. Also I have been having a hard time downloading item from the DLS. I needed some dependencies which was around 4.7 MB. When it started downloading the speed was around 4 KBps and then it just kept going down and it got down to 0 Bps. I never did get the download I needed. Oh well I am new at this so bear with me....

Try going into Surveyor, click on "Tracks F4", and then "Trackside Mode Y". You'll probably find them in there. Also, in CMP, make sure that you committed the assets. (CTRL-M).

As far as the assets not showing up in Surveyor are concerned, they may be missing dependencies. In CMP, right click on the asset, and click on "View Dependencies", and a window will open showing the dependencies. If any of the dependencies have a "DS" next to them, click on "View in main list", the right click on the item in "Main List", and click on download. CMP will download them from the DLS.

:D Thanks jrfolco, the items are in the trackside menu of surveyor. You asked me if I committed the items. Do you mean selecting the item in CM 3.2 under the installed tab and pressing CTRL-M ? I'm just not sure about how to commit I sure appreciate your reply....

Open the CM3.2 options and have it auto-commit objects when it starts Trainz, then you don't have to think about that. Also in Surveyor, in the Options menu, make sure that Display only favorites is not checked or you will not see everything that is installed.

If an item shows up in Content Manager as faulty, it's not going to show up in Native mode. There's another thing you might want to check, by default Surveyor only shows 5 star rated items (just like it, by default, only shows 5 star rated routes) and that can be turned off in the Surveyor Options.

DLS items aside, TS2010 comes with several rail end objects, use the search filter and search the trackside items for prellbock. (Prellbock is German for buffer or buffer stop.)

Thanks again for the very helpful information. I am new at this and have a lot of questions. Happy Railroading !!!!
