Missing Dependencies, AGAIN!

I know, I know. This subject has been discussed to death but I still cannot understand the whys and wherefores of it. I'm beginning to think I need a Doctorate in computer programming and code writing to work with missing dependencies!

Why do we even have to deal with in the first place? Why are they not included in the original file with the rest of the data?

If they cannot be included in the original file, then could someone please explain, in SIMPLE TERMS, STEP BY STEP, EXACTLY how to find, download, and install them.

There has to be a SIMPLE formula to deal with them but, for the life of me, I cannot figure it out.

I need Maine Central, 4-6-2 Pacific #470 for my route but I cannot make it work because of MISSING, (bleeping), DEPENDENCIES!!!

I love this program but I cannot make things work because of missing dependencies!

Well you won't have any help if you don't give us the missing kuid(s) and btw you can ask here

The answers to those very frustrating questions have been posted in these forum discussions ever since the DLS appeared.

Some of the reasons I have personally encountered are:-

• copyright - the missing kuids can only be obtained from the creators 3rd party web site. This brings up the question why the poster of the asset that contains the missing kuid(s) did not mention this?
• they are actually missing - the missing kuids were once on a 3rd party web site (and nowhere else) but that site has now closed down (usually lack of funding or lack of interest).
• forgetfulness - the missing kuid(s) are sitting on the HDD of the creator of the asset who has simply forgotten to upload it/them to the DLS (I have been guilty of this myself). A simple (polite) reminder to the creator will often jog their memory.

The first two reasons above are the main reason why I don't bother with 3rd party assets. If a downloaded asset contains missing kuids that are not on the DLS then I simply delete it and move on.

No longer frustrated because I simply do not bother with missing kuids any more

I don't hesitate to just delete the offending item and wipe it from my memory. I feel much better now.
