All,

i know this has been discussed many time and beaten into the ground but....

will there ever be a Trainz for Mac OS?

Dave

i doubt it, but your PC version should run on mac... they'rrre cleverrr machines ya ken....;)

as far as i know, macs can run any pc software.... including windoze....

not sure if any of you have dealt with it or not but i do have parallel and windows vista, just kinda worried that with splicing the OS in half trainz wont run as well.

here are my Mac specs:

Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac11,3
Processor Name: Intel Core i3
Processor Speed: 3.2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB

not sure if anyone can help me out if it will be ok or not

thanks

Dave

Dave:

I'm running the same machine, but I'm using bootcamp to get my Windows 7 64bit. You need to install updated ATi Radeon drivers and adjust the game settings in the Catalyst control panel to "performace" over "quality" but then everything works quite well.

As for parallels, I suspect performance will be degraded significantly, so I didn't bother trying it.

can someone enlighten me as to wft you you want to run windows on a mac for anyway? from what i am led to believe, there is nothing that windows will run that MacOS wont....

At the risk of feeding the trolls, I will say that one generally pays a premium for Mac hardware. Being able run both MacOSX and Windows 7 provides the ability to run both the audio/video editing and web programming software I need, with access to all the games and legacy applications I want, without having to own two computers.

Also the monitor on the 27" iMac is pretty freaking incredible.

Running Windows on a Mac re JamesMcPherson's comment

Why do it?

1. Wired Magazine about a year or so ago - "the best Windows gaming machine is a high-end MacBook Pro"
2. Leo Laporte last weekend I believe quoting Walt Mossberg - "the best Windows PC is a Mac"

Outside of the gaming realm, although Quicken has a Mac version it is considered inferior to the Windows version, so many Mac owners run Windows and Quicken for Windows.

Of course its pricey that's why I haven't done it. It's also why I'm surprised Auran is working on a Mac version of Trainz since most PC gamers with Macs run Windows already.

Wow, wired doesn't know what they are talking about. The best gaming windows PC is a custom built one. Really though, any PC is better than a Mac for gaming. Why? Because you can swap out hardware as tech advances.

Don't bother arguing (feeding the trolls). Regardless if you are right or not, people will still condemn macs simply because they are macs.

Hopefully the mac users will get their own forum (soon) so they can have a reasonable conversion with out the nonsense trolls.
