Best of. Windows Vista Ultimate or Windows Vista Home Premium? Also best malware suite?

Classics slowed for Linux.

I use Vista Ultimate x64, but I have used Vista Home Premium on my laptop and I don't mind either of those versions. For most people, Home Premium is all you will ever need. Ultimate has little to offer the average user.

For malware, I "sometimes" use Spybot. It used to get updated frequently, but that seems to have slowed down a bit. You can find Spybot here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

I have seen a lot of references to Ad-Aware, so you could give that a look: http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

I use both "Spybot" and "Ad-Aware" as I have found that each can and do find items the other cannot and I update them frequently.

There's a list of the features in each edition of Vista here. AFAIK all editions will run Trainz. It might be worth considering opting for Windows XP instead of Vista.

Performance wise, XP beats Vista, especially when it comes to Trainz. If you run Vista, you will notice a performance drop. Just so you know, in the public pre-release SP1 for Vista, the performance in Trainz, and overall has increased, but it still doesn't rival that of XP.
