Morning everyone,

Yesterday i started work on the 400+ miles long Metra System. Trackwork for the Chicago Union Station is 30% finished. I'll work on it in the next two days, then i am 3 weeks in the US. After this time i'll try to reach a 7h per day working time for the following 3 weeks.

Pics coming very soon, if i have time to make some

I'll update this thread with news and updates about this project. Currently i try to add a cab to the DLS Metra Cab Car ^^

Felix

That'll be quite a project. I hope you don't burn yourself out working on it like that. I'm one who should talk. When I get going on something, I work until I collapse.

While in the US, I hope you get to see some of the route or routes you are working on. It would be helpful to be able to take pictures.

John

Hi,

Yup, it is a big project :p But i'm a bit bored after finishing the NEC...and the Metra system is only 40 miles longer. So i'll try it ;)
I work until i collapse too...sometimes 24h without a break. But music keeps me running, and i'm able to build 60 miles and more within one weekend.

I travel to the US ONLY to see those routes :D I'll travel the whole NEC from Boston to Washington. the flight departs in 32h....

Last thing: progress at union Station, Chicago

That is ART! I look forward to this, as I often took the trip from Union station north on the METRA to Waukegan Station. What was fun, was to fly into Chicago's O'Hare airport and take the CZtA train from the airport to downtown, then walking a block to Union Station to board the METRA to go north to Waukegan. I applaud your work!

This is an awesome looking start to your route. Good luck with your project and of course have a fun and safe trip to Boston.

John

Thanks John, harpman and boc61 :)

Today i'll finish the Northern Station part, and when i come back from my trip (if i survive the flight...) I'll start work on the Metra and Amtrak Yards. Next thing i'll try is doing/editing a few cab cars. The only metra cab car in Trainz has no cab (facepalm). Or i build my own stuff. A MP36 is missing in TS as well :) I may do some stuff for this route(s)

And because i already had to explain via skype:

This route uses NO DEM, it is completely prototypical, it will include all 11 METRA lines and will have a complete length of 487 miles . And yes i know what i am talking about, I build two routes in the last 9 months (NEC and FMRR), if ya count the miles of both routes you can see that they are together 650+ miles long...
So please, stop those 'trainz newbie, hm? You'll see Felix, you can never do this' messages via skype and fb -.-
Thank you..

And now i'll start work on the northern part....

My flight departs in 26 h, still a little bit time left

flusi, My Jaw is now in an irrepairable position on the floor....:udrool::mop::eek::clap: just getting that much done is a feat. I can almost see myself back on the south side departing the Chief and seeing my first amfleets and Cabbages, I can almost hear my little girl squeals that came from my reaction to seeing them.
that said if anyone start's being a gimmie pig about this one I swear I will knock some sense into them personally, with a large section of rail;).

I remember thinking that you were gonna be one of those people that started the NEC and never finished it because it was so big and now it's like 'yeah he's got this' ^.^
beyond the shadow of a doubt after seeing the NEC completed in its entirety any thought of you being a newb in my head were gone, and now that you're making some of your own content, man *whistles* you could be one of the next big ones.

Thanks for the kind words SouthwestinAZ, you may remember that i stopped the NEC a few times...it is a miracle that i finally finished it LOL never thought that it would ever happen too ;)

heheh, progress :p the southern Station platforms & trackwork + details are finished, now to the north part and all the buildings in chicago...:

hmm. Don't think 24 hours in a row is healthy Felix :P

May I ask what assets you're using to build the underground station and what platforms you're using for the passenger and baggage platforms?

Jamie

You can also make the cab car a locomotive too, but under config on the engine line put 2 not 1 because the cab car will try to go the opposite direction a s the F40-C or F40-PH

Hi Jamie,

what i use for the station: 'Bridge Pier 4' (three different varients, lenght set to 16m and reskinned), passenger Platform is the 'UK Modern utility platform' (my own reskin), Baggage Platform is the 'Platform low asphalt' (my own reskin too). the walls, fences etc are reskins too.

@kgp that isnt my problem, but no matter where i add a cab to that car, it is still in the middle of the car + 2ft above ground. I can even add it 500ft away from the car (in PEvs attachement maker), it is still in the middle of that car -.- idk why

Ah btw....northern station part finished, i'm now working on Canal street Crossing (pics soon)

A pretty vague shot at Chicago, but it should be interesting to see someone make the actual track, which alone is grounds for insanity.

Cheers,
Joshua
