Metal environment problem with Trainzmesh

Good evening everyone,

I just upgraded to SP6 on my 22PE, and I've noticed that several of my trainzmzsh creations have a problem with the ".m.reflect" metal environment. It appears with a greenish tint. What should I do?

Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Aurélien

This is due to those assets having an issue with the textures associated with m.reflect, metal environment. In previous versions, Trainz ignored the problem. If hadn't noticed before, what was supposed to be a metallic texture was dull grey or appeared white.

I think the green tint in TRS19+ is an indicator of incorrect material setup of m.reflect in the original asset. You could investigate that and correct it, but since you are using TRS22 and it can’t properly reproduce even a correctly-made m.reflect material, that effort seems like a waste of time.

You would probably be better off updating your creation to a build 4.6 (or higher) asset with proper PBR materials. Have a look at the Wiki and see what PBR material is likely to support the type of reflection you want. I suggest m.pbrmetal with a strong metallicity component, but there might be better options available (I haven’t checked the Wiki for a while).

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your feedback. It's a shame it no longer works; it was a very practical solution for anything that wasn't metal. It's a shame to have to use PBR on plastic equipment.

Best regards, Aurélien
