Measuring distance in Suveyor

What are the easiest ways to measure both distance (like where to place my mile marker signs) and/or to measure the total amount of track I have laid down (including things like sidings) in the route I am building?

Each square is 720 meters on a side... or almost half a mile (.447 miles to be exact). Although not completely true, I go for the old "Two blocks equals a mile" measurement. It's not exact, but that's what I use when placing my mile markers. You can guesstimate the distance by eyeballing the track in MAP view and taking into account the curves and bends in your track. Of course, if your a complete perfectionist, this wouldn't work for you. Use the guides BOATDCTR is talking about.

This works in TRS2004 SP4, maybe in other versions too...

In Surveyor:

Edit Session Rules > Add > Display Custom HUD > Click the OK tick

Left click once on "Display Custom HUD" so as to select it > Edit > Select the "Show the custom heads up display" option > Click the OK tick

Click the OK tick to exit "Edit Session Rules"

Then when you drive you'll have an odometer which is great for measuring actual track distances.
