I've got a little bit of a problem here, I have a mdc/roundhouse inside framed 2-8-0, and I've busted a gear on her...:o Could anyone give me some help on how to figure out what year she was made? (before or after 1998) I need to figue out which re-gear set to buy. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have no clue, I would just say take it to a local train shop and ask.

A few pictures might help. I've seen some earlier 2-8-0's but I stopped watching them after 4 failers with their 2-3 truck shays (at least they look pretty)

NorthWest Shore Line
offers complete re-gear sets for popular MDC/Roundhouse kits.

I'm looking at my 2007 Walthers Catalog......
Under Lighting - Electrical - Motors
NWSL
HOn3 MDC Loco Regear Kits

Catalog Number: 53-1846
Price: $14.95 USD
This one appears to use the original motor

also available

MDC HOn3 2-8-0 Consolidation Loco 1998 Redesign
Catalog number: 53-1896
Price: $24.95 USD
It implys a new motor even comes with this one :D (I would check with Walthers directly or a hobby shop with lots of know-how)

Thanks, I belive its a newer one, its got nickel plated drivers verses brass... and I found out at my locoal train shop the nikel plating was mdc's most recent improvement. The motor on mine is pretty small, so a new motor would be nice!:D I have some real steep grades on my layout...:o And thanks for the help!
