Hello;
With thanks to Yorkshire for pointing me to the 5m grid solution, I did a, what I must confess, is an unscientific experiment.
On the table top, I ran a straight section of track, from edge to edge. I aligned the track ends with the gray, 5m line, created a mountian then applied the "smooth spline" function. I got my cut. Being a diehard yankee, I use the Imperial setting in Surveyor.
Then, applying the ruler, I measured the cut = 33.7 feet.
I moved over and created the same thing in parallel, this time, I centered the track on the 10m line and made another cut.
The measurement = 66.1 feet.
It therefore, appears that one can have both cuts on the same board, depending upon which reference is chosen.
Is this correct, or, has my computer smoked some funny stuff while I was away at the store?
Cheers,
srude
