Glasgow has two main stations, Central and Queen Street. Although nowhere near the size of the Central it is now being looked at for further modernisation. FirstScotrail would like one of the platforms to be lengthened to acommodate longer trains. Next one of the entrances is an office block which is ripe for sale if Network offers the right price thus giving further expansion in a tight space. The Low Level has two platforms for suburban and another Edinburgh service but when I was younger there were 4. Queen Street is also the third busiest main station in Scotland following Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley. JThis was raised previously when there was amove to increase the Glasgow-Edinburgh fast shuttle but when that was put back by the present government it kind of died. If it now goes ahead it will be just another sign of the onward progress of passenger rail here.
