MAC Trainz Time of day and weather controls ?

I have the most recent MAC version of Trainz and am just learning the simulator. I saved a session and when I came back to it, it was night time. What's with that? It was daytime when I saved the session!

How do I get the time of day to daytime?

Also when the session is loading I see a quick view of a snow covered environment.

How do I change the season to get to that snow covered environment?

Thanks for any help. I am totally new at this simulator and find the help instructions virtually non-existent for my questions and there have been many. A look through all the menus is not rewarding either.

Is there a better way to learn this MAC version of Trainz?

In general I like the simulator. Its detail is very good. I find at times it takes a lot of focus to keep the train speed below the limit and stop in time for red signals and navigate from the map. It most certainly captures me.

Hi Lynn,

The weather controls for a session are located in the environment settings..., at least on the PC, and is found under the File menu in the session/route editor. I not sure this is similar on the MAC as well.

I hope this helps.

Please do us a favor and register your copy of Trainz. This will ensure full community assistance as well as additional support.

There is no session/route editor in the MAC version (that I can find???). I again pulled down every menu and looked every where, clicked on everything and there seems to be no way to get back into daylight or change the weather (??). It may be the MAC version is a complete aafter thought with limit on everything (??). I try again using the right click button.

If you edit a route or create a new route, then you are in surveyor. Main menu>Edit environment . Here you can set the time. Click on the little button beneath the clock and everything will revert to 12 noon. When check things out with a quick drive hopefully that is where the time of day will start. My problem is that I want the time to change while in Quick Drive. If you click the diurnal cycle in 'edit environment' then the time changes at a million miles an hour. I would like to know how to make this work properly. If someone could explain this in easy to understand language then I would be happy to kiss there you know what, right out in front of the post office. Thanx. Fargo

For those using PCs, once your in game. The differences between the Mac version and the PC version are very minimal.

LDBennett; in Surveyor, open up the drop-down menu in the upper left corner, about a third of the way down there will be "Edit Environment". In the new window that pops up, one of the tabs will have an analog clock on it just drag the hour hand (there isn't a min or sec hand) to what time of day you want it to be.

Also LDBennett, please register your version of Trainz, by clicking "Register" at the top of the page.

Peter and fargo125 are right for the Surveyor mode but I am running an existing route... just driving. When I change the settings in the Surveyor mode it does not change the driving mode. Again, I started the session in daylight, paused it, saved it and exited the game and when I came back to it the next day it was coming up night time.

Where is the environmental and time control for just running one of the stored routes? How did it get changed in the first place...I did nothing to the time of day that I know of???

I tired to register the game but it needs the registration number. I bought it from the Apple store as a download and I have no idea where to find the registration number. someone tell me where to find the registration number and I'll register my copy.

I've been thinking about this problem. An online check that I did says that you don't need a registration number when bought thru the app store. I looked for mine but can't find it either. However since your already a Planet Auran member, and you probably joined from the settings tab on the trainz 2 start-up window then they are probably right. If you look in the library folder, hidden on my mac,(~/library), then in containers....com.nv3 games or something like that, you will eventually get to a folder that will let you configure various things if you know your way around a computer. I have no idea. That's why I bought a mac. Cheers.

I gave up and started over and got back to daylight. The developer of this software uses British terms not all that recognizable by me especially when I don't even know the American words for railroad terms. The HELP and Manual are very inadequate. The Search function is almost useless. I guess I'll have to stumble through using the Simulator. Thank goodness I did not go the $200 route to use BootCamp, Windows, and the Trainz for the Windows version or I would be very disappointed. I have no more into this game than a dinner for two in a nice restaurant.

And I am register for this web page. I thought I remembered that some registration wanted the registration number (??). At least one request for registration did.
