Mac Trainz and Steam Mac Trainz Question

i've searched for any info that will ans. my question and didn't find any so I've started a new thread.

I do not yet own any version of Trainz, although I did play Sid's Railroad Tycoon for a couple of years...

I'd like to know the difference between buying Trainz Simulator 12 that is offered at the Steams website - http://store.steampowered.com/app/24670/

and Trainz Simulator Mac that is offered here http://www.trainzportal.com/product_trainz_mac.php

Has anyone used both? or one or other?

Which is best value and which has best performance...And am I correct in saying that the Steam product can only be played online via. HS internet connection?

TS 12 is not Mac compatible, regardless of where you buy it from (Auran, Steam, somewhere else).

TS Mac is essentially the TS 12 game engine with content from TS 2010.

Interesting - thank you Diego.

I got confused at the STEAM website because it said that TS 12 would run as long as I downloaded their app to my machine...which got me wondering and not interested in running Tranz via. wireless. (If true or not, even though I do have a duo IOX Mac.)
