Low Poly Trees and Other Flora

Where can I find more low poly vegetation? I am familiar with the great looking JVC content, but the trees available are limited. I searched low poly and didn't see much more. I am looking for other content with comparable quality. I need trees and bushes and shrubs. Stand alone or spline. Maybe I need to search other keywords or user names?

Bump. Sorry folks, I just really need some help with this. Maybe since it's another day and a different crowd on here I might have some luck. Same goes for my directional lighting post which is also drifting towards obscurity.

Most of the trees are done using three rectangular planes in gmax and using alpha channels to separate the tree image from the transparent texture. Hence most trees consist of six polys and it is hard to get much lower, although there are a few four poly trees.

dmdrake/talltreez has made quite a few trees as well; although I am unsure of the poly count on them. But I do know that dmdrake is king at making things lo poly.

Good. That sounds promising. Gfisher, I recently downloaded your Fishing Village because I needed some inspiration for a coastal 30ng project I'm working on. It was a bit much for my computer, but very nice. What is the screen shot you use for your signature from? I notice you usually warn if your routes require a high powered computer, so mine probably couldn't handle it. Are there any screenshots I could view? I am so excited of the possbilities of what I can do when I can afford to upgrade. It's the only thing that keeps me sane using this tired old machine.

Lots and lots of trees!

Most of my trees are 6, 8 or 12 poly, and my splines are made up of these trees so the math is pretty simple once you look at one iteration of the spline and count the trees. My Perfect Series are 128 and 196 polys each so stay away from them. You should be happy with all my other trees... and there are plenty to choose from. :D

And don't forget about the various Wide Cover Forest Splines in various forest type configurations.;)

Have fun, Dave

Thanks, Dave. I use tons of your content, and usually have good results, or at least as good as I can get with this thing. Thanks for all of your work, you have quite a lot of content out there. I'm trying to find a balance between detail and performance. I just wasn't sure what to use that isn't specifically labeled low-poly. These replies help a lot, and I don't have to download much because I already have a lot. I avoided splines for a while, but I'm going to try again using a bit more discretion.

If you are looking for low poly trees that work and look good in TS2009WBE, good luck!

If you want fantastic trees for TRS2004, only one place to go. IMHO.. DM Drake! :)

Cheers

It is from "The Loops" which is on the DLS. That one is a fairly high end computer type route, at least when I made it, although the newer more powerful computers should run it reasonably well. Do a search for it in the screenie group and you should find lots of shots.

I have also seen some really lo poly scenery objects from the HP Marias Pass route. Trees included, but they would be called "baum"!:)

I have noticed that Marias Pass seems to work decent on my computer in most areas. Maybe if I load it up in surveyor and click on some goodies and write them down.... Hmmmm.... Actually I did that with Northbay County for old time stuff. I dig the new sig, Euphod. Being in he RV industry for a few years, mean crotchety old goats were the bulk of my customers. No offense to any old goats out there, unless you are mean and crotchety.

Well, I AM grumpy, mean and crotchety. I have a PhD in GOB (Grumpy Old Bastar*). I worked hard for it, I deserve it and no one is gonna take it away.
:p

Hey, it's all good. Most of my customers were good sports and lived by the mantra of "Don't dish it out if you can't take it yourself". My favorite fishing buddy is a GOB and a total pain in the rear, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Wanna go fishin?

I would imagine there is some amazing fishing down there. I think I'm in the wrong forum right now.... Other hobbies taking over....
