Love to have a back yard like this.

Wouldn't you know it...........I'm already hoping to build one of the 4000 class in 7 1/2" gauge. and I think its camping at Train Mountain that would be the ultimate railfan's dream. You do realize that Train Mountain has over 25 1/2 miles (not scale miles, actual miles) of 7 1/2" track, right?

In Cedar Springs, MI (north of Grand Rapids on 131), there is the White Creek Railroad. Privately owned 120 acres with 5.5 miles of track, 7.5". http://www.whitecreekrr.com/default.asp Regular operation meets, and open exhibitions. Was operational for NMRA 2012 in GR. And hence the second line in my signature......

Yeah, somebody is loaded...

That said, if I were in the MI area I think it'd be a fun time to drop in on one their "sessions" - From what I read on the website, they welcome it. Even said they had a spot to park your RV if you were going to be there a few days.

Or a tent, if you're cheap. It is a bit shaded, so be sure to bundle up (not to mention a bit low, so dew collects easily). About 8 steaming bays, 2 transfer bridges, 200 pieces of rolling stock on premises, and Russ started only 6 months after retiring from being a teacher. But he owns the trailer park (nice place, clean/well kept) where the trains are, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Just no running on Sundays.

There's the Mid-South Live Steamers in Columbia, Tennessee. I went there a few times when I was much younger, probably about five or six. The strange thing was that it was open to the public on both Mother's Day and my Mom's birthday; so guess what she did on those days? I thought it was no longer around until I did some searching on the web in High School and found it still exists!

Train Mountain update: "Train Mountain has over 25 1/2 miles" the website should read 36 miles of track with 25 plus miles of mainline. Russ

That is a seriously powerful Miniature Big boy, or Little Boy, I used to be part of a club, but our most powerful engine could only haul about 5 coaches max, bearing in mind the gauge I think was smaller.
