Louisville & Nashville Numbering Font

Renowned L&N Fanatic
Hello all,

Lately I've been piddling around in gimp, and am currently working on reskining one of Ben Neal's (bdaneal) steam locomotives into a Louisville and Nashville #152 livery. Now, being the L&N fan I am, I'm clueless what the font is that they used on their locomotives and tenders.
I know this is quite a random thing to ask for help with, but I would like to get the appearance as accurate as I can.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

I've emailed my brother. He has a program that will identify fonts because he works in the graphics industry. I used to be good at identifying fonts, being a typesetter, but my days of doing that are over.

Thanks John. I did some searching online across the web and couldn't find anything involving the L&N. It seems to be one of the least talked about "Gone but not Forgotten."
Anyway, thanks for the help,

I've already got a 152 on the DLS if you want to give it a try. Most RR's had their own fonts which are not readily identifiable but are close to recognized fonts. There's a program out there somewhere that includes most RR fonts, but it's payware and I don't remember the name of it offhand.

Good Luck

Mike

I got the fonts or at least an explanation from my brother:

LN= rockwell bold italic expanded 120%
the "&" is modified, probably from the garamond family
text below is rockwell bold and the script is brush script

This might help. Go to www.dafont.com and you can download public domain versions of fonts. Using Gimp and other programs, such as Corel Draw, Canvas, etc., you can then stretch and modify them as necessary. I forgot to add that in many cases, the art and marketing departments took standard fonts and then modified them for the own purposes. This is why the fonts kind of sort of look like the families they belong too.

Yes leeferr, I'm aware of your model, and use it regularly. I wanted to reskin my own to compare them; (possibly just numbered under another appropriate K2A number).

Wow! That really helped a lot! I'll have to try those. Thanks you!

Alright, so I've acquired the preferred Fonts, and am working on the Tender to get the hang of things. However, in CM, when I commit the asset the following errors occur:
Error: The texture 'sa750tender_body/750tender.tga' failed to load.
Error: The texture 'sa750tender_body/snalogo.tga' failed to load.
These are the two TGA files that I modified and exported with GIMP. What have I forgotten/mistaken here?
Thanks
