It's true..Railworks 2 was voted the #1 train sim game out there. This should make the Trainzers happy. Let's see what 2012 brings to the table. Enjoy your Trainz or Railworks2 everyone.

;) Some politicians win a referendum by 101 % of the votes... It always depends on the scientific and objective way the poll is made.:hehe:

This should make the Trainzers happy

My apologies but I can't understand this part. It must be due to my sleepy state...

Wow.

That is amazing. Thanks for letting us know.

I can't find the poll, or the source, and I'm still interested in knowing. Can anyone post where this poll originated? Thanks in advance.

If you look at the review and the competition:

Railworks 2 Train Simulator
Landit Bandit
Food Network: Cook or Be Cooked
My Boyfriend

The review was awful. I can't believe the Railworks guys posted the link.

The Railworks followers were thrilled.

Harold

Thank you Sir, that was kind of you.:)

They don't appear to have even reviewed Trainz in any form, so I don't see this as having any validity. I'm sure Trainz would have fared better.

"They can't handle the truth"

Interesting.

I made a post over at UKTrainsim in their "Award Winner! Best Simulator 2010" thread, congratulating the RailWorks crew and listing the three simulations (Landit Bandit; Food Network: Cook or Be Cooked; My Boyfriend) against which it was competing.

The post was there for about 15 minutes before it mysteriously disappeared. Wonder why?

Because they're a touchy bunch it seems.

If that was the competition, it wasn't really very comparative. I've never tried Railworks so I wouldn't know how it rates against Trainz. I have seen an awful lot of negative comment relating to the forum though which actually puts me off even trying it.

Euphod, that's one of the best banners you've come up with.

Ed, top banner, love it. lol.
Guys, if Auran ever advertised Trainz with just a small picture in the national presses, then people would know about it. I only found Trainz by pure accident on an old magazine CD from a friend while looking for something else back in 2002-3.
It seems at the moment it sells by word of mouth only. A national sales pitch would boost it way beyond any Railsim dreams (well in my opinion it would) and leave them all standing in dust.

The biggest complaint I have against Railworks is their attitude:

"That doesn't work it is third party we won't help you fix it. Buy more Railworks DLC."

There is no way to find errors and third party routes have missing content that is difficult to trace.

The scenery looks good at first but the pastel look wears on one. The front facing trees after awhile stare like zombies and become creepy.

I haven't played Railworks in a long time and started a route but lost interest because of the scenery. That determines whether a game is good.

Been playing Open Rails, makes MSTS a great driving sim.

Waiting for TS12 before I continue on my route. Trainz does 1870's and narrow gauge well.

All the sims have their points, I am not a cultist.

OH NO!

I must now stop all work on my route (W.I.P.) and move onto my Railworks 2 sim. Damn, someone has nearly finished their version of the same route that I'm working on.

:'(:'(:'(:'(:'(:'(

No.1 against that lot....even excel would beat that lot in the playability stakes.

Troll, Troll, Troll, Troll. :hehe::wave:

:hehe: As far as I know I wasn't asked, were you, trainzers?;)

This shows certain reminiscences of a 101%-winning referendum which main question would be:

Which is the best rail sim, RS or RW? :hehe: RW would win by 102 % of the votes.

I'll give Railworks has some good points.
For drivers amongst us, steamers that sound like steamers, steamer cabs whereby you can stay at the controls and still have a good view of the signals etc.
Set the switches and see your route through a complicated yard.

BUT, for every one good point, Trainz has ten, in particular Surveyor and the superb content creators.

A bit like FSX versus the opposition :)

Oh no! It's another RW2 thread in GD! Surprised it hasn't been locked or moved to Community/Prototype Talk where topics about other train sims tend to end up.

I think it says alot about the simulation genre when a mediocre train sim can win such an award - if we had the modern day equivalent of Longbow 2, Falcon 4 or Total Air War it wouldn't even have been a contender.

I suppose putting a positive spin on things, it does give the wider train simming hobby a bit of exposure and may increase awareness of the Auran/N3V products.

As regards UKTS - Phil you and I should both know better by now. :hehe: Even valid comment has a tendency to get shot down in flames, see my recent post re "User Experience" as an example of how something well intentioned nearly ended up in an all out flame war.
