looking for a 2 track 3ft gauge tunnel

I'm looking for a 2 track 3ft gauge tunnel

I found one on the download station "NG 3ft dble trk tunnel" but it doesn't work or I'm not using it right.

Any help would be appricated.

Thanks

Dave

Tunnels are easy to set up. But, it does look like you have an incompatibility problem. If you got a tunnel for TRS2004, then it might not work or show up in Surveyor in newer TRS versions.

Also, a bit more detail of your problem might help.

...but it doesn't work....

A little more information about what "does not work" would help.

This is an old assets and if you are using it in TS09/10/12 you could get compatibility problems even if the assets shows not faults.

EDIT: I have checked this out, the start and end portals are missing in surveyor. Looked at the config file and directory setup and it seems to me that this assets is not going to work in later builds without a fair amount of reworking of the config file (if it can be made to work at all). I suggest you look for an alternative tunnel or even, possibly, use two single track tunnels (which did happen from time to time on the prototype).

Thanks for you help. You have found the problem I'm having with the tunnel.

I had though of using two separate tunnels but I want to see two trains pass each other in the tunnel and that's why I need a two track one.

Guess i'll keep on looking. I would change the track in a standard gauge tunnel but then I would not be able to up load the route when I'm done.

O well I'll just keep on looking and hopnig.

Thanks again for trying

Dave,

It's always worth checking out an assets licence conditions. Some Authors do allow you to reskin or change their assets and publish them with due acknowledgement. Many will give you permission if you ask nicely !

Something I find useful when searching the DLS for obscure scenery items is to use Google translate (or similar) to get other language keywords and then search on them. For example "Narrow Gauge" in German is "Schmalspur" and that brings up a couple of tunnels - but single track ones I'm afraid !

Cheers

Thanks for the idea. :) :) :) :)

I'll start checking out the 2 track tunnels tonight when I get home. Because that is a very real possiblity because I've found that most people on this forum are very helpful.

If worse comes to worse (ie. you can't find what you need - I can make you one (with input from you as to what you have in mind) that is.

Most NG lines had little money to construct a single track bore nor complex switch's ... most 3' gauge RR's were "get in & get out" no one gets hurt ... pilliage the land of timber, coal & iron ore.

Ben

I just got to look at trainz tonight and what a nice suprise to see your offer to make a 2 track tunnel with 3foot gauge tracks in it.

I'm looking at something that has a stone or brick front (or entrance) with the 2 tracks as close together as any double track would be.

If it is anything close to the "tunnel us 2t usa" tunnel I would be very happy

Dave

Let me look at that one and get back to you. What center to center track spacing do you want?

EDIT. I do not have it and since I don't have a FTC (I almost never download nothing as I'm too busy uploading things I make, lol) I have no way to get it. Could you put it in a zip folder and e-mail it to me as an attachment?

Ben,

I believe it is the same as this built-in tunnel but with the spacing at 5 meters.

Tunnel 2track,<kuid:-1:100398>

If I looked at the correct one its a very modern concrete tunnel. I seriously doubt a NG one woud look like that.

Could it be possible to maybe clone an existing tunnel of another gauge (such as the default Auran ones), and edit the config file to change the track in the tunnel to 3' gauge?

I've seen a number of such bridge and tunnel splines with different track to the default versions on the DLS so I presume it's possible (I have no idea on the specifics though - I'm just speculating here. :p).

Your tunnel has been uploaded. 2004 version to the TPR site. 2009 version to the DLS. Not approved as yet.

Ben

Thanks Ben I really appreciate your help.

You can do that but unless you have the author's permission you can't put it on the DLS or distrubite it in any way.

That's why I'm so glad Ben stepped in an made the tunnel because I really wanted it in my layout and I want to put the layout on the DLS when I'm done.

Dave

It might not have worked anyway. Just for grins I changed the track kuid in the config file for the one you sent me to 3 ft ga rail only track but it didn't change on the spline. Its a strange file. Config file only - nothhing else - not even a mesh table or anything. never seen one like it before.
