I was wondering what is the longest train in Trainz? I guess this is more a challenge than a question.:hehe:

The longest freight train in the world....

The longest train ever was a freight train:
Length: 7.353 KM
# of cars: 682
# of engines: 8 diesel/electric
Company: BHP Iron Ore
Location: Port Hedland, Australia
Length of trip: 275 KM - 171 Miles
Date of trip: June 21 2001

I believe the longest train I ever constructed in Trainz was a coal drag that was just short of 20 or so miles.

It was powered by five Big Boys up front, one every 200 cars, and three on the end.

Health and safety eh. I wonder what they'd think about this..

And did anyone see the National Geographic magazine, for february this year? they showed a mexican guy sleeping with his head on the rail in guatemala, so when the train eventually came he wouldn't miss a free ride. You'd have to be a light sleeper!

Nah, it's Indian, look - it has UK style couplers on the front!

Anywho, how can the driver see where he's going?

I believe that train was headed somewhere in India, according to the picture caption:

Are you sure it wasn't 9 locomotives, as I thought I read it was nine locos?

Must have taken a reasonable amount of time making the consist for it.

Wonder how long it took to fill all neary 700 ore wagons up???
Wonder why they stopped at 682 - unless that was their entire fleet of ore wagons

All these longest, widest, biggest etc., questions in Trainz are interesting but since the laws of physics and economics can be suspended or flaunted at a whim within the game, it's all rather pointless. I could easily create a huge object (how big? really big!) , balance it on a single bogie and make it speed down the track at over (pick any number) kph. Big deal. :p If it looks good it might get points for aesthetics but that's about all it would merit since any object that one person can make, another can easily make longer, bigger, wider, etc.

That said, what's the best looking, most detailed and realistic traincar using the fewest polys. Note the poly restriction. Using hundreds of polys to replicate every rivet and bolt might boost the realism but it would be so heavy it might not be possible to even load in Trainz.
