Locomotives Not Being Shown

Hey guys. I have had these steam locomotives that I downloaded for a while, but when I try and add them to my layout or check them, I see the name of the engine as an option but it won't appear or run when I select it. Any Suggestions? I am using TRS 2006.

Sounds like a missing or faulty dependency to me - to check this, you will need to find the asset in CMP (Click Manage Content on the Trainz Launcher), then right-click the asset in question and choose View Dependencies. If there are any assets with a DS or ? next to them, these are the missing assets. Also, if any appear with a red ! or a red ? next to them this indicates a faulty asset. If you click View in Main List it will show the dependencies in the main CMP list.

Thanks. There are many broken dependencies and items. Is there anything I can do about it though? Can I fix this?

Sometimes a jpg, tga, config file typo, mispleeling, unknown track, missing enginesound, corona, bogie ...etc... is unlocatable. So you have to go into the config file and edit out the unlocatable missing dependency, and replace it with one that is locatable on the DLS.

If any of them have DS next to them, these can be downloaded directly from the Download station - just click View in Main List in the View Dependencies box, then select the items that are displaying the DS symbol (Hold Ctrl down if there is more than 1), then right click the first one and select Download - they will then appear in the Download Helper box, ready for downloading - all you will need to do is click Start.

If the items have a ? next to them, it may be worth posting them here (You can select items in the View Dependencies box in a similar way to described above) then right click - Copy. Paste the results into a new post.

I have the same problem in TS 2010. I have some locomotives and train cars that work perfect in TS 2009 but in TS2010 they apear only with their names. In fact none of the rolling stock made in RO works in this edition.

Do the train cars and locos show up in red in the selection list? If they do, they are faulty and perhaps haven't been updated yet to TS2010 standards.

Try running the program in compatibility mode. This should allow the older content to work.

What you may want to do is look at the items in CM. If they have red "!" next to them, the items need to be updated due to errors in the config files. In many cases, the problem is an easy fix like a typographcial error, or a missing texture which can be replaced.
