Loading wagons in surveyor

Hi all,
I have a long string empty coal wagons on my layout and I am in surveyor. I want to load them so when I change to driver they are loaded and can attach them as load wagons. I don't have a loading facility on the layout yet. Now the wagons can be selected individually and loaded in surveyor but when i change to driver mode they are empty again. The wagons are williamg's VSAL/ VCAL QR coal wagons. I am wanting to start off a fully load coal train in my scenario. Can anybody shed light on what I might be doing wrong.

Hi, Select rolling stock, click question mark, and right click on the wagon which should give you the option of loading it with what ever is available for that wagon. You will have to do each wagon individually.

you can fill them all at once.
you click on one wagon and type in the load amount for it.
Then at the top left you will see a circle with a train in it.
If you click on this it will load the rest, as long as they are the same unit.
If you have different wagons you will have to do it with each different type,

That is a most useful tip! Might I get you to elaborate a bit?

The wee circle, which I failed to notice before you pointed it out, says "fill compatable ...." Does this mean exactly the same wagon-type or will it work for different styles of wagon that have the same load-bearing capability?

Sometimes I want to fill a mixed consist of wagons with their various contents, which needs each one to be filled in turn. I then would like to save that filled-consist so that it becomes available as such in other routes & sessions. However, when I save such a consist from Surveyor, then later enter it into another session or route, the wagons are no longer filled.

Is it possible to save a filled consist in this way (from within Surveyor); or must one alter the config file of (clones of) the wagons concerned to make them full rather than empty, as the default?

Hi Lataxe,
You will need to fill each type separately. Sometimes even the same type of wagon needs to be done the same way.
I checked and you cant save loaded wagons as units and place them on a route again.
Changing the config would work to have them loaded not sure if you could unload them.
Simple way would be to modify the wagon so that you have the product you want as load 0. Then use the Instant Load command.
You can then create your desired mixed consist and using the get tool in the train section of the content tab in surveyor, save it under a name of your choice.
You can then use it as often as you like.

Or use the instant load 09 command from JR, which will load all wagons with allowed mixed products. This can be done in driver mode.

HI all,
I can load them in Surveyor as you all said i could. I saved the session with the loaded wagons but when i select the session in driver the wagons are empty. It does the same thing even if I do a Quick Drive session. Any further suggestions. I guess I will have to extent the layout to include a loading facility. Oaky in Driver I ticked the Instant load 09 and I got them to load that way thanks for the help

Belated thanks for the replies. I'll have a play with the Instant Load options as well as an attempt to clone an empty wagon with a config file tweak to get it filled.
