Layout idea needed?

Here is the track plan circa 1985 for the Golden Gate Model Railroad Club layout.

Thoughts on converting layouts such as this to Trainz:
In this case the isle and lower penensula could be one base board wide while the upper could be two wide. Since we are not space limited I would sugest making the isle and lower penensula two BB wide and the upper three, for instance. Besides longer straight aways and broader curves this would leave more room for industries and such.
The very long hidden track section labeled "A" could easily be two shorter tunnels thanks to the extra space.
I did something like that with my version of "Gorre & Daphetid line" on the DLS.

Pine Ridge and Highland narrow gauge, the G&DRR look a like,

Search for on the internet

got it on my tablet at moment

I've been to the GGMRC web site and there is a more recent colour version of the plan which distinguishes the various trackage a bit better. What I can't see though is any indication of the overall dimensions of the layout, to give some clue when scaling up from HO into Surveyor.

Edit:
Found a reference to the overall dimensions being 70ft by 40ft. Scaled up at 1:90 (being generous) that equates to 6300ft/1938m x 3600ft/1107m. So certainly not a quickie one week project!!

There's also some pseudo cab ride videos of the layout on You Tube and it certainly looks impressive. Certainly one for future reference though I would be more inclined to build in a "real" environment than a Model Trainz type production.

I used portals for the hidden track section marked A on that plan, though mine is not to the scale of that plan and currently an 8x9 baseboard rectangle without any yards implemented yet.

I have found that 'scaling up' the dimensions of model railway routes works best if you stretch the axis that has stations running along it more than the the other axis where possible. This method makes the stations and sidings longer while maintaining the spacing between tracks - this of course only works 100% where all or at least most of the stations run along the same axis.

An example:

The second picture is scaled by 2 for the width and by 1.5 for the height, you will probably need to fiddle with the scaling to get a size that suits you.
