Layer Query

I thought I was getting reasonably good at 2010, but. I was going to place a new consist on my route and i get the message box that you cannot place a new consist as their is a one already exsists in a hidden layer. I had placed a consist then deleted it. To put something else in its place. And got the hidden layer message. How do i access this hidden layer without losing Months of work. Ok everything is backed up to a CDP. Bit reluctant to press buttons when their is always a chance of terminal stuff up. Would appreciate some feedback on this.

When you open the Layers tool in Surveyor you should see all the layers in your layout - hidden as well as visible. Hidden layers have eye icon infront of their name that is greyed out. Click the eye to make the layer visible.

Ok tried that,On selecting the eye icon in session layer nothing happened, In route layer everything vanished except for spline points. No consist to be seen??? Any idea.

Sean,
I had a similar problem whist building a session. What I ended up doing was going to the layers tab and make sure both the route and session layers are unlocked and then selecting the 'merge' tool and merging the Session layer into the Route layer.
I am not a Trainz guru, so backup everything before you try this. Be very careful if you do give it a try to make sure you don't do it backwards and merge the route layer into the session layer. When you have finished, make sure the route layer is locked again unless you wish to edit the route itself.

Thanks for that, that is one I learnt early on in my 2010. When doing a session to save and then merge into route layer and then save again. As my whole route which you could say is quite large<wont bore you with the details> I have my main name for my route and just the one session which I edit. As I found as you did sessions you lost where you was at unless you named them. hence just the one session for the route. Thanks anyhow but I am still looking for a solution.
