Hello all,
For quite some time, I have been working on a prototypical route in Trainz. It is currently almost 95 miles long, with high-detail track used for mainline. I used standard low-poly tracks in the large yard.
About how much can the average computer take? I'm noticing a moderate slow-down when I view the whole yard at once. I have about 20 tracks spaced over an area of 1,000 feet or so, and the yard tracks are about 1 mile long. I also have done texturing, and there are a few buildings. Would this much be expected to slow the game on an average computer?
As I said, I have 95 miles of mainline with high-poly track, and running on the mainline, I get perfect framerates. In the yard, when viewing all of it, frame rates drop significantly. I haven't even tried placing any trains in it yet.
Here are my specs:
Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, 64-bit
AMD Athlon x64 processor 5000+, dual core
ATI Radeon HD 3850 video card
2 GB RAM
129 GB free of 232 on C Drive
Any suggestions on future upgrades, or how to improve performance? As I said, the 20-track yard is all that lags...
Thanks!
