Lap top for T:ANE

I may be going full-time RVing next spring and am considering a laptop to run T:ANE on. These are the specs:

ASUS ROG G551JM-DH71
Intel i7-4700HQ 2.5ghz processor
16Gig of DDR3 RAM
NVidia GTX 860M 2GB GDDR5 GPU
15.6" display with 1TB 7200RPM HDD

How do these graphics cards and processors in laptops compare to similar ones in desk tops?

My current desktop is as follows:

i3-3220 3.3ghz
8Gigs of DDR3 RAM
GTX 660 2GB
7200 rpm HDD

Thanks for your input.

From the looks of this, the laptop you chose would run T:ANE really just fine.

But if you're looking for laptop gpu that can really compare up with the latest desktop GTX 970/980 series of cards, you may want to look into a laptop with the latest GTX970m/980m. The price may be a bit more for these latest cards, but the performance is an incredible step forward with the new 2nd gen maxwell architecture.

hope this helps

Ditch the hard drive for a solid state drive. It's 2014, unless you're hoarding a lot of files, I don't see a reason for a terabyte HDD when a solid state would greatly improve your overall performance for everything.
That is all I have to personally say, ATSF854 summed up the important factor pretty well.

Addition: If you find a laptop with a 2K/4K screen that could handle trainz, that would be pretty rad.
Addt #2: Need storage? I suggest a passport or a similar product. I use a NAS so I have 3TB of storage.

Amazon (through Tiger Direct) has this laptop for around $1100. I think there is another model for around $1300 or so that has an SSD. I might consider the more expensive machine. My wife says there probably won't be enough room in the RV for my gaming rig so she may "authorize" another purchase !

Thanks, guys.
