Kinky Turnouts (A screenshot competition)

I have found that ALL tracks except MP Wood and MP Rusty (Chunky Mesh Tracks) are unable to make tight turnouts. All the rest of the tracks kink badly in tight turnouts.

Here are the rules:

All screenshots should have either a 2 switch crossover, switch splinepoint mesurement not exceeding 6 Trainz baseboard square grids, end to end. (any longer measuerment would be a lengthly high speed crossover).

Or a Single Switch, with spline points (end to end) should not exceed 3 Trainz baseboard square grids.

No long lengthly turnouts ... all turnouts should be tight curves.

Being that MP Tracks are no longer available (as the Josef Pav HP-Trainz site is down indefinately) most people can not aquire MP Tracks anymore. (asside from Philskenes- WP Wood v2.

And MP Rusty and MP Tunneltrack Dark are no longer available for download). Bring back the MP Track packs ! All the rest sox !

Is Josef Pav still active in the Trainz community ?

You are aware that the above presented is fictional and will never be seen in reality, are you ? :hehe:

What ... you want the "Horseshoe" route ? It's very real, alive, in the works ... on my PC.

You have been added to the "Bad List" of those to recieve a bag of coal ... only "friendlies" will recieve the "Horseshoe" route (just like Landrvers assets-not widely distrbuted to all).

Dude, you seriously need to stop being so arrogant about your dumb route - your just another user that laid some tracks on a baseboard and called it hot. I really don’t care how wide your tracks are spaced - Show me a decent screenshot of a finished area and maybe I would.

I like all the Drstrach assets, I will have to try your S49 track in tight turnouts.

All my turnouts are hand laid using the Trainz Ruler to keep em' straight (no templates are used whatsoever). All my yard tracks are spaced using MB Quad Line as a 4m track spacing tool.

As for showing you a finished area, you're not worthy: My route is devoid of trees, buildings and textures ... As trackwork, curves and gradients come first ... all the rest of the assets on the DLS is filler, that is commonly used to cover up, and dress up a route that has poorly laid, kinked trackage. You really should care that your tracks are not placed too wide spaced center to center, and that your tracks are not all badly kinked in turnouts.

I do not know if it's a good idea, my tracks are too European (especially central European :))

May this be a problem, with built-in ruler is hard to accurately measure anything, and in case you need to measure the turnouts: turnout radius, length of turnout, the radius of return (in Europe, tangent of turnout angle). It is better to use the templates, at least for me. I matched my tracks so that if you use templates you get a nice transition between the tracks (of course, it concerns the European crossover)

Cheers,
Stan

My tracks arranged on the ChWerwick templates:

I know what the problem is, the track based on chunky_mesh look better. Try to find 3D tracks based on the sections of 1-2 meters.

Hi,

The kinky part can be fixed at cost of polygons, just make the rail mesh with more segments... ;)

I know, this still is kinky, but I think it is looking OK either way:

Take care all

I find drstrach gives good performance (no stutters) and looks good too.

There are over 100 types – wood, concrete, shiny, rusty, rail-less, variable ballast etc. Included are several transition pieces which allow seamless links between styles.

I’ve never seen any sign of kinks in the turnouts. The slight wavy effect seen on the straight rusty sections is deliberately created “slight subsidence” in this old area of one of my routes.

I use this track almost exclusively.

Congratulations and thanks to drstrach for some great assets.

Cheers

Oh ho ho! Look at Mr hot stuff over here... "You've been placed on the bad list".. what a laugh. Like you got something special to keep from the rest of us. Congratulations, you pulled an Iced8383! Bad trackwork, and 2 textures placed side by side! Now, damn, where did I put that award for forum idiot of the month? Must have misplaced it... It'll come up sooner or later...

By the way, you don't know diddly squat about laying trackwork... Kinky Turnouts... Sounds like someone hasn't gotten any in EVER.

Ahh, here we are!
