somewhere in Trainz land must be a King or Queen of ballasting. Straight track ballasting is no problem but can you elimanate the Sawtooth effect on corners? You have to go so far out on the corners that it doesen't look like ballast roadbed. Looking for good ballasting techniques. Thanks.

Me too..is there a spline that you can run beside the track that will keep the ballast nice an even..in other words not letting it creep underneath..L

Hi Blackwatch..Nothing found on DLS with that "FMA trackbed"L
Ok found them on the CMP.

Won't using those splines hurt frame rates?

Sorry, double post.

I guess it depends on your computer specs.
In my case theres not really anything thats going to effect Frame rates for me. win7 64bit 6gig ddr3 ram i7 core 930 overclocked to 3ghz and radeon 5770^^

If you use the 5m grid instead of default 10m, the ballast will be a lot smoother, but the downside is that using 5m grid is a serious perf hit in Surveyor. Not sure it affects driver though.

I too have been kind of frustrated by the way ballast looks on track that is laid diagonal (or anything not parallel to) to the grid.

Some track has fairly wide ballast, so you can get away without adding any. I don't particularly like the effect though:(

I think I'll try some of the splines mentioned. I've got an old (5+yrs) and rather slow system, so if there is going to be a hit, I'll probably know about it.
