Junction names

I am slowly learning how to build a route... (I played with building in 06 but not much)

If I can say anything good about 09... its forceing me to be a better builder :hehe:

So I am working on a blank map, and I split my track and the only junction I have is labled "Junction 143".

Now this being the one and only Junction I would think it would be named "Junction 1 " by default.

So I spilt my track again and I get a Junction named "Junction 459"

So how and why are the Junctions named this way?

Not sure why that is, it's just random, I usually rename my junctions anyway.

If you want to rename your junction, on the track tab, click on the right button at the top, where the markers are. Click on the ? at the bottom, then click on the junction and you can name it anything you want.

Now I don't know the exact method used but it couldn't be just the next one in a string beginning with 1. What would the system do if you merged two routes with turnouts numbered the same. Interesting question but renaming them is best. Many route builders use letters from the nearest town plus a number to name turnouts. So the first turnout entering Murrey Hills from the superior direction would be something like MH001. Or you can use the function of the track as the name like Yard Lead or Loco Service.
